Caitlin Clark and the WNBA

The star of the WNBA has taken a lot of cheap shots on the floor since joining the league. The standout star from the Iowa University Hawkeyes has been abused at times while the Officials have turned their other cheek. The league performed a semi-investigation and found there was a collusion among “some” Officials to look the other way while she gets beat up.

She has turned the league into a real money maker for the first time since it’s inception. When teams play the Indiana Fever, which is the team Caitlin has signed with to play, they fill a lot of seats. The arena may not sell out, but it fills a lot more than years before.

Caitlin has now warned the WNBA, that if the Officials fail to protect her, it’s a possibility she could be playing in Europe after she fulfills her contract with Indiana. Nike paid Caitlin $28,000,000 and gave her a signature shoe to sponsor.

She is the best player in the WNBA that I have seen since the league was formed. If you get an opportunity to watch her play on TV or in an arena near you, maybe you should consider going to watch this super talented player.

I do not watch sports as a rule, however, I love it when she started showing
how to shoot that ball....reminded me when I was a kidling of shooting
repeatedly from the middle lines and "netting" that ball.....treat her rite....

Hope she goes to Europe, more fun. Officials, blind eyes
is a all-time favorite joke of ball players, Officials and fixing games.
She is so good they probably watch other players on the court is a thought.

The WNBA should be walking on eggshells with her. She could easily go to Europe and play and may even earn more money.
Her team should sue the WNBA.
It would be a tough case because of the unions would have to be named also. If there’s any underworld money invested in the WNBA, it’s possible that could open a whole can of worms that would turn ugly in a hurry.

She just had an issue on Saturday, I believe. She threw a pass that was intercepted and knocked out of bounds by a defensive player. The referee gave the ball to the defensive team. She told the ref, “You got to be f-ing kidding me.” The ref gave her a T. I know an NBA official personally. I used to be his agent. He told me that when a ref blows a call and knows it, they take a little crap like this ref got. My friend thought this ref was a bit quick with the “T”.

Being native Iowans and University of Iowa alumni we are huge Caitlin Clark fans. We have watched all of her televised college and pro games.

I do not think she would ever go to a European league for several reasons. First, that league is not at all followed in the USA, so her public star quality in the USA would be greatly curtailed. Second, she has tremendous competitiveness but you can't set and break USA records when you play in Europe. Third, the WNBA has better overall talent. Fourth, she already makes plenty of money from endorsements so higher salary is not a serious consideration.

I agree with the above comments that the WNBA should do more to make sure she is not continually singled out for cheapshots. Just in the last game on June 17, she was obviously, purposefully poked in the eye, then chest bumped by one opponent then immediately, and flagrantly shoved to the floor by a second opponent. At least one or both of those opponents should have been ejected from the game but were not. Totally uncalled for.

There is a lot of petty jealousy, but the league should realize Caitlin is there golden goose. Attendance for the games she plays in are all sellouts. Resale ticket prices for games Caitlin plays in are averaging $425 each. The average resale ticket price for NBA games is only $235.

After being injured several times now and poor if not biased WNBA referees her frustration is starting to show getting into arguments with refs.

Caitlin Clark has to be held back in heated moment with ref: ‘Grow up’

One of the traits that make a player like Clark great is that they are into the mentally along with using their physical talents. It takes observation and thinking skills to read the floor, plays, players and anticipate moves ie a pretty good idea of how something should go. The refs job is to observe and note infractions but they're not doing it competently anyway

The league that wants to expand has to realize she is the only reason they can even think expansion or have leverage for tv and stadium contracts is Caitlin Clark
