Five Soldiers Wounded At Fort Stewart In Georgia

Five soldiers were wounded at Fort Stewart in Georgia, one is in critical condition with a gunshot to the chest. No motive given, but the shooter, who used his personal 9mm, had a confrontation a day earlier with the soldier he shot in the chest.

I read about this, but never knew what the motive was.

I read about one of the victims took a shot to the chest. I guess he survived? A gunshot to the chest is usually fatal in the majority of cases that I have investigated. There’s a lot of critical items in the chest, including the heart, aorta and lungs. If the shooter only hits one lung and it collapses, the other lung can supply enough oxygen to keep the body alive, so long as treatment is received in a timely manner.

I had a collapsed lung and it makes breathing a bit difficult until the damaged lung is repaired and re-inflated by the surgeon.

A tragic event but I was impressed with the comments and composure of the young people involved in helping the wounded and disarming the gunman.
