Originally titled on the the big screen the UK film was called "The Blue Lamp" - In the film was a police sergeant called PC George Dixon (played by Jack Warner).

The TV spin-off was re-titled "Dixon of Dock Green", in which Jack Warner reprised his role as the police sergeant George Dixon.
The series ran from 1955 to 1976 over 432 episodes. Most of them were wiped by the BBC, but 33 episodes still exist.
