If you have a spouse, what is the chief reason (s) you stay with him/her?

How honest can I be?

The truth? Day to day, I'd much rather live alone. That's the fact.

We're together, and I fought and spent a lot of cash to make it so, because I made a promise several decades ago. I take the vows, and marriage, very seriously. Which boils down to a commitment I made, that we both made. It's not perfect.

In the world, it's not about the individual. I said I would do something, so I'm doing it.

Are they keeping up their side of the bargain, as promised.

I tried to stay married to my first husband, until I realized he had a different approach to it.

I'd like to answer this completely, but I don't want to disclose too much.

My wife is safe, she has what she says she needs/wants. I can provide those things.

Am I completely happy? No. Do I get everything I want? No.

I'm resigned to what it is. The alternative to this would certainly be to live alone, which I enjoyed.

Some of this I write off as consequences. I made statements, promises, and those have consequences.

I love him, he makes me laugh, I feel protected, and we balance each other out emotionally.

In terms of practicalities, I’m better off financially, his approach to life (impulsive, risk taker) is a good counterpart to mine (overthinker, risk averse) and he’s handy! Can fix/build anything that needs it or that I want!
