Neighbor’s Granddaughter Has Pots

A neighbor woman that I frequently talk with at the local coffeehouse in the mornings was telling me this morning about a disease called POTS or Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome. I never heard of this disease or illness until today.

She said her 11 year old granddaughter was vaccinated for HPV, or the Papilloma Virus. Two days after she got the first injection, (it’s done in 2 injections, 6 months apart), she would become very dizzy and pass out. As the weeks past, the symptoms have become worse. The little girl now either becomes very dizzy to the point she has to lie down for a half hour, or she just passes out where she is sitting or standing.

Has anyone ever known anyone else’s child that has had this happen to them? I appreciate any feedback.

Yes. My BFF's daughter, now age 22, a tall, beautiful dancer in great health, was diagnosed with POTS a year or so after she received the Covid vax (at age 18). Symptoms started a short time after but it was attributed to other things until she went to a cardiologist who diagnosed POTS and told her it was the vax that caused it. Doctor told her that cardiologists are seeing many more young people because of this. She has since had to give up dancing and is often so weak that she can't function well at much.

This is the information I have found so far on the cause of POTS

Researchers aren’t sure yet what exactly causes POTS. Currently, they think there are multiple causes, which they’ve grouped into different subtypes of POTS, including:

  • Neuropathic POTS: This happens when peripheral denervation (loss of nerve supply) leads to poor blood vessel muscles, especially in your legs and core (abdomen).
  • Hyperadrenergic POTS: This happens when your sympathetic nervous system is overactive.
  • Hypovolemic POTS: Reduced blood volume can lead to POTS. Low blood volume can cause similar symptoms that may overlap in neuropathic and hyperadrenergic POTS.
There’s also growing evidence suggesting that POTS might be an autoimmune disease, meaning your immune system attacks healthy tissue for unknown reasons.

I had heard plenty about POTS, a very difficult illness condition, for sure.

I had not ever heard of it being associated with vaccines before.

That does not mean it wasn't. I just had not heard that in the past.

I had heard about adults with POTS.

Sad for either , but seems more sad for childrento have it. ☹️

All that I know is that the vaccine is called Gardasil and is manufactured by Merck. It is supposed to aid in the prevention of HPV and also some female cancers.

Yes. A few years ago my, straight, brother died of HPV mouth cancer.

He had always been very healthy, didn't smoke, played tennis every day. One day he passed out on the golf course, went to the ER, they kept him overnight for tests and the next morning a doctor came in and said, "You have cancer and it's terminal."

When he called me to give me the awful news I told him that HPV mouth cancer is at almost epidemic proportions among baby boomer men. it's what Michael Douglas had.

It's more dangerous for men because if they get the virus they often don't have any symtoms. It goes underground and years later cancer develops.

Symptoms sound very familiar, but pretty sure it doesn't have anything to do with vaccines in people I know. The symptoms can be from other causes and I've known these folks for decades and they've had them as long as I've known them. One of which I was involved with when we were teenagers--she had it since she was 9.

I hadn't heard of the specific syndrome till just now.

I apologize for a mistake I made on the little girls age. She was 11 when she received the first injection. She has not taken the booster for obvious reasons. Her grandma told me this morning that she has an appointment at Kennedy-Krieger Institute in Baltimore. They supposedly are specialists working with POTS patients, especially Pediatrics.

I have edited the age in my original post.

I printed your post and gave it to the grandmother this morning. She said they may already have this information, but if not, this may help and she thanked you for the post.

I had no idea that the girl’s father is also a doctor, but he is a specialist in Nephrology. This illness has both parents very nervous and afraid for their daughter that she may never fully enjoy her life. She was active in gymnastics and was studying under a personal trainer to prepare for a tryout in the Olympics when she is old enough.

Sorry for your loss. I had friends in the service that had mouth cancer and another had esophageal cancer. It was hard to watch both of them slowly fade away. The man that had esophageal cancer was only alive for 5 weeks after it was discovered. Both men were buried in Arlington.

I just finished reading about POTS, which is a new one to me. It sounds horrible and I can understand why the girl’s parents are living with uncertainty and fear. It has to be frustrating. I wish all the best and hopefully, a recovery, if it’s possible.

It is my understanding that HPV may cause cancer and not just in females. I personally knew a gay gentleman who died from rectal cancer, the type that is related to HPV. So sad.

Correct.

Hence it is also now given to boys - has been in Australia for quite a few years now

I suspect it is more dangerous for men because there is no screening test to pick it up early like there is for women ( ie pap smears)

I was intrigued by this illness, so I began reading more about it and the more I read, the more I found to read. There is another illness that goes along with this illness called Cardiac Syncope, which means fainting caused by lack of blood to the brain.

After reading a lot of articles on this topic and watching YouTube videos, it seems that unless it’s your child that gets effected by the vaccine, very few people have become concerned about it. I have since found out that one of our Trooper’s daughters also has been effected by the vaccine. I spoke briefly with him via phone and he told me she can be standing and the next instant, she collapses and passes out. She has hurt herself a few times by falling down the steps. She can’t be left alone.

He has taken her to different hospitals that specialize in researching this illness and have come up with no cure or even a medication to prevent short term effects. He thinks that it’s still pretty much a puzzle.

I speak with the grandmother almost everyday and I ask about her granddaughter. She told me this morning that the girl passed out 27 times yesterday. They are considering buying a dog that is trained to warn her when a spell is about to happen. The dog costs $25,000. Her father is a doctor in the hospital’s ER, but specializes in Nephrology.

I met the mother of the child jyst a few weeks ago. She is American and he is from Algeria, but educated here in the U.S. They met in college. She is an R.N., but for now a stay at home mom. The daughter can no longer go to school and the same as 911’s friend, she cannot be left alone. She now also suffers with depression. If she was my daughter, I would be very sick over this.

I know dad is a doctor and makes a good living, but I told grandma this morning that I would be glad to help contribute to paying for the support dog. She began to cry. I thought I had offended her, but she said she was overcome by someone wanting to help. They have 2 other children in school and live in a beautiful home. I thought with all of their expenses, maybe a little aid would be appreciated. I am always willing to help a child.

The next time I see grandma, I am going to mention the Cardiac Syncope. I read a little about it earlier this morning and was able to see the likeness it has to POTS. They have taken the child to different doctors and no positive results from anything they suggested. It’s difficult to believe that this illness has transpired from a vaccine.
