Suspects arrested in theft of crown jewels from the Louvre museum

in the theft of crown jewels from the Louvre museum in Paris, with one apprehended at Charles de Gaulle Airport Saturday night, according to the Paris prosecutor.

According to Le Parisien newspaper, the men arrested are from the Paris suburbs. One was preparing to board a flight from Charles de Gaulle Airport with some of the stolen items from the Louvre. Another suspect was arrested later in the evening in the Seine-Saint-Denis suburb north of Paris.

Seems unclear in some reports if they recovered the jewels. Maybe they recovered some?

In December of 1978, some wise guys from NYC robbed what was called “The Lufthansa Heist” at JFK airport. The robbers walked away with nearly $6 million in cash and jewels. The $6 million has often been disputed. Some said it was more and others said it was less.
