Train Stabbing in England

Thank goodness for British strict gun laws!

We have to avoid the knee jerk reaction to random crimes like this. The American way is to escalate force. Mass stabbings? We need more guns. Mass shootings? Even more guns..... etc.

We should reject and avoid this. You simply cannot save everyone from a random attack.

The only way to address it is for more surveillance of citizens. But when it comes to, say, digital ID's, there is a sizable number of people saying it's government going too far. You simply cannot have it both ways.

It's a reality of life. Mass killings will happen if someone is determined. Of course it's wrong, but it's a mistake to imagine they can all be avoided.

This was a terrible incident. It's disheartening to know people can't go about their daily lives without worrying they may be attacked in some manner. Those passengers must have been terrified. I hope the attacker gets locked up for a very long time.

My eldest son does that particular train journey most weeks, thankfully not on that particular day. He was on that route a couple of days later though and said there was a police presence at Cambridge station but not on the train itself.

I've just read an article which says that the train crew member, Samir Zitouni, who was seriously injured trying to protect passengers, regained consciousness briefly and was able to speak to his wife for a short period of time. He 's still got a long journey to recovery but it's a good sign.

IMO, I disagree.
