Looking Through The Box

My pens.

I had some pens when I was a kid, and they got lost along the way. They were nothing special or expensive, and in fact some were empty. But I had them in a tin, and I kept them. That tin got lost along the way.

I lost my "going steady" bracelet:

My original wedding band slipped off my finger on a cold winter day at the coin operated car wash, never to be found again. I feel sure it went down the grate over the conrete drain. My wife gave me another band sometime later, but I'd still like the first one back.

We were very poor so we got very little as children... but when I was 12 or 13 my mother bought me a Gold signet ring.. nothing was more precious that she'd ever given me.

I was at Girl Guides, and we weren't allowed to wear jewellery so on inspection I was told to take my ring off.. which I did and put it into my shirt uniform pocket.

I didn't realise that the pocket wasn't buttoned, and when I got home, while chatting with my mum I bent over for something , and the ring fell out onto the floor..
There was no carpet on the floor, and we both heard it fall.. but we searched and searched and the ring couldn't be found. A year later we moved house, and even when the room was emptied of everything we couldn't find the ring...
