Neighbor keeps parking a commercial box truck in front of my house

A bunch of young people moved into the house across the street and one of them apparently uses a Direct Transport Services box truck for his work, and he's been parking it in front of my house. It's an ugly frickin' truck and I don't want it parked in front of my house. I spend quite a bit of time keeping our property looking nice, but it's all ruined with having to look at that frickin' truck. Some of the neighbors probably think it's my truck.

There are municipal codes prohibiting the parking of large trucks on the street. I tried contacting the city, and the one time they went to check on it, the truck was gone. It seems to be gone part of the day most days, but I'm not sure what their schedule is.

I was thinking about putting a note on the truck but haven't done that yet.

Any suggestions?
 

I literally have the same problem... a young-ish family moved into a house in the next road.. and she and he both have a car each .. but he also has a Flat bed truck... they would have plenty space to park on their property but instead they fenced the whole property off, so they've not a got a drive now.. so instead he parks his truck in MY road, either directly outside my house or right outside the house opposite....they don't even live in this road.it's very frustrating.. but there's nothing that can be done, because it's a public road.. essentially they can park where they like within the law
 

Do you have an HOA? If so, they may have rules against this and you could take it up with them. There is no HOA where I live, but there is a city ordinance against leaving a vehicle parked on the street more than a certain number of hours without it being moved. I don't know the number of hours, but at least 24.

This problem may not be easily addressed by the forum, since city ordinances about parking vary greatly from one community to another.

Naa, I park in my garage. I don't want to have my catalytic convertor stolen or other vandalism perpetrated on my car. It's a safe neighborhood, but I don't take any chances, nonetheless.

RambleTamble: Why don't you buy some of those Red Witches' Hats and put them on the street in front of your place?
 
I live in a Strata complex. I have been here for 12 years and the amount of conflict with illegal parking causes many headaches. I am on the Strata Committee, and we had some "NO PARKING "signs erected on the walls and within 2 days they had been removed. It cost us $1 thousand dollars to have then made and erected and we never got the signs back. I've lost my faith in some human beings. What lowlifes.
 
You didn't mention if it it's possible for your neighbor to park that truck on the side they live on. If it is possible then the neighborly thing to do would be to introduce yourself & ask the driver to park the truck on their side of the street.

Your course of action depends on what the truck operator says . Jules in post #5 offered a good suggestion.

Are they renters? If so, this problem may resolve itself after a while. If not, and this is really bugging you, bear in mind that you'll get more bees with honey than vinegar.

We've had SF members who are locked in long conflict with their neighbors and it's not a pleasant way to live.

I don't know what the story is in that house. There seems to be like a half-dozen young people living there -- probably in their 20s, as well as people visiting... people coming and going. Other than the truck, they're fairly well behaved. I just wish they'd park the truck in front of their own damn house. It's illegally parked and I'm tired of looking at it.
 
@RambleTamble ....yes, I would contact the company.

I had the same problem w/my neighbors across the street. He was always parking his brand new shiny truck in front of my house. I nicely told him I didn't mind, but I do water my lawn faithfully on Saturdays. Now, either he didnt hear me or didn't listen...long story short....yep I turned on the sprinklers. And, his wife's vehicle was in front of my yard too. He doesn't do that anymore.

ETA: many a time I would have to forgo watering because his truck never moved...I gave him lotsa chances.
We're still friendly.
