Lots of cans in the 30s and especially the 40s began moving these in stores.

Coming from a Portuguese background, there were always cans of Sardines in the house. Hated when the tab would break and you had to use something else to open the can.

on the odd occasion I have to use a can with a key..inevtably I can't turn it because it's so tight...so I grip it with a pair of pliers..... incredibly ridiculous to think you have to use pliers to get into a can of food...

I remember using that key and how our kitchen junk drawer had about a dozen of them stashed in there. I guess my parents thought they may need a spare some day. lol

I remember those keys. The metal can was really sharp after opening it.
