Supposedly it takes the flu vaccine 2 weeks before becoming effective. Are you sure you have the flu?
 
We got the covid and high-dose flu shot a few days ago and I had a bad reaction to one of them. I felt like I had a mild case of the flu for about three days. I slept most of the day today and now I feel pretty much back to normal.

I guess it's worth it if it prevents me from getting a severe case of the flu or covid.

I found out last year, don't get some vaccines back to back or together. I had the RSV and my Covid booster together. Yeah, Skippy, I was down for a couple of days. But I knew why and not to do that again.

That's the first time I ever had a bad reaction to a vaccine. Who knows what caused it this time. I'll get the both vaccines again at the same time next year and see what happens. If there's a correlation, maybe I'll deduce causation.

When we were at King Sooper's for our shots, the pharmacist informed me that I needed a second shingles shot. I sure as hell don't want to get a case of shingles. That seems really unpleasant. So, I'll have to go back to King Sooper's for that... probably next month. I read that the ShinglesX vaccine can give you flu-like symptoms. Great. :rolleyes:
 
People are still getting COVID. Just last week, a friend of our family called me and asked if I would watch the house for a few days. I asked what’s up. He said he had just been diagnosed with COVID and had to go stay with his daughter. His wife has some rare illness that if she catches it, she could die, so she’s flying to her son’s until he is better.

I still get it. Most times twice a year. I learned the hard way to get the booster or be almost as sick as the first time I got it.

Here’s a strange situation that happened to an Officer in the Marines. There was a Colonel based in Virginia that had been in the service for over 35 years. He always bragged about the fact that he never took any medications, or OTC drugs of any kind and other than the vaccines he needed to go to school or overseas, he was never ill, not even a cold.

During his 33rd year in the Marines, he became very ill with pancreatic cancer and died 4 months after his diagnosis. I knew him from staff meetings, so I did go to his funeral. Another oddity was that he did not have any family members or any other civilian friends show up for his service. I did like the man. He was always very personable. He was buried in Arlington at his request.
 
In July, I got an invite for the flu jab, but I rescheduled that hoping that Mrs.L would get her invite and we could both go on the same date.
Mrs.L hasn't received any word, so I decided to go ahead with my flu jab. The night before I was due for my jab, it snowed and I couldn't get the car out of the village. Couldn't find a suitable alternative, so neither Mrs.L nor I have had a flu jab. We're keeping fine, but son caught flu. It's not been too serious, but is taking ages to clear up.
 
I’ve never had Covid, nor the flu. Ron’s never had Covid. . We both opted for every vaccination available when Covid first hit. As I recall we each had three rounds back then.

I get a flu shot every year, and other than soreness at the injection site I don’t have any other issues. This year at my yearly exam, my doc advised me to get a Covid booster and an RSV shot so that’s what I’m going to do.

I’m fully aware that none of these shots prevent illness, they simply mitigate the symptoms. That’s fine with me.

After being completely debilitated by Shingles several years ago (worst pain I’ve ever had in my life including childbirth) I reversed my decision not to get the shot, and made sure I was fully vaccinated for it. I had another bout of shingles last year, and it was mildly irritating. Big difference!
