Where did you keep the key? Favorite place to skate?

I remember I got my first pair when I was 6. Didn't wear Saddle Oxfords though, I wore tennis shoes. I would skate up and down the driveway. I kept the key on a long string that I wore around my neck.

Here's some music for us to skate to:

At the roller disco on a Saturday morning, they always played the latest chart music for everyone to skate to... but this one was a favourite at the time, and got everybody up skating and dancing.... and everytime I hear it to this day 55 years on, I think of those halcyonic roller skating days

Yes, I loved mine! I used to go down the hill on it and what felt like high speed!
Later, I got my fancy white ones and like others, I went to the roller skating ring.
When my daughter was young, I would take her skating at the ring during the small children hours. They had disco balls and they listened to Michael Jackson while skating! She had the white skates too. That was so much fum!

I had similar roller skates then moved up to roller blades.

My roller skates would often come apart and I’d fall out and scrape my knees so I didn’t use them often.

I loved my roller blades though. I wore them at a base that had paved paths and would skate for hours and while I didn’t fall often, I’d wear knee and elbow pads just in case.

I grew up rollerskating at the rink, and especially remember going skating with my dad at the BIG rink on frequent Sunday afternoons, where we'd "dance".

The last time I was on rollerskates (reluctantly, for good reasons), was on the Daytona Beach boardwalk in 1980, where I fell, landed on my face, and broke my nose.

End of rollerskating.
