Gentle posts for gentle folks

Good Afternoon, Kaila and Friends πŸ€— :coffee: ❄️

I am weirdly tired of myself today and a little down. Maybe it's the impending storm, I don't know. I didn't sleep particularly well so, that's probably not helping. That's my whine today.

@CallMeKate, we have the same predictions of a potential two feet of snow. :( I'm still holding out for a miraculous skip over of the Mid-Atlantic.

We have enough food and batteries so, as long as the electricity holds out we should be fine. It's poor Lucius whose life will really be disrupted. If it's as bad as predicted, we'll have to dig out a latrine for him and he will miss proper walks for a bit. In which case, I'll let him run around the house a little more than I usually would. He's a big dog and has to get his energy out somehow.

Today I'm planning some AC with boyfriend and later husband and I have a hockey game to catch. :)

@Kaila, hoping your appointment, and the travel, go well today.

@Pam, I am impressed with how well you know the different bird species! :) I'm just starting to learn the different types coming to our feeder. Before, I would have classed them into, Cardinals, Finches and Sparrows.

Wishing everyone here a safe and warm weekend. πŸ₯•πŸ₯•πŸ₯•

The weather makes a big difference in our moods. This afternoon I feeling a little more energized; the sun is finally shining. All the valleys here are notorious for being socked in. Now I need to think of something I should do.

I’m really suspect the weather forecasts are for the worst scenarios. It seems they do that here. Be safe everyone.

Good Afternoon, Kaila and Friends πŸ€— :coffee: ❄️

Lucius and I have just come in from the second walk and it is, as expected, freezing out there. No snow yet, though; that is predicted to start tonight and go through Monday morning. I'm trying to give Lucius as much walk time as possible before that happens.

Hoping for a warm and safe weekend for everyone on this lovely thread. πŸ₯• πŸ₯• πŸ₯•

Lucius is a lucky dog. I feel for you getting all that snow and hating it. We are only getting 15 centimetres which is about 5 or 6 inches but we already have about 6 inches already.
I’ll send loving prayers your way.

Hmmm.... well, final estimates are in and it ain't pretty, but still hoping for lower amounts. I'm in section A. Stores and businesses are announcing closures for tomorrow and Monday. I do think I've prepared as much as I can for a power outage, so now it's wait and see. I know many of us are facing the same, so stay safe and warm, everyone affected!

I am a just off this map to the west a bit, so in Section B. Thanks for putting this up, Kate. Stay warm, girl.

Oh gosh,
Do take very good, extra good and excellent care,
Both of you!β€οΈπŸ’œ

And everyone else, on the areas effected.
πŸ’—πŸ’—πŸ’—

Our expected snow amounts, here, north of Boston, have gone up, to over a foot;
Arriving later than your areas,
tomorrow and then continuing thru to Tues morning.

It was very cold today, but not intolerable, once dressed in several layers. πŸ«£πŸ™„
So i managed to pick up a grocery order at the grocery store parking lot. And 2 prescriptions.

Not putting anything away, today,
except for the refrigerator items of course. It was enough exercise, as it was!

Having salmon and cauliflower/potato/carrot, for supper.

Speaking of πŸ₯•πŸ₯•πŸ₯•πŸ₯•πŸ₯•πŸ₯•,
I'm thinking of all of you!

Thank you, Kaila. You and husband stay safe and warm too! Your dinner sounds nice. πŸ€—

Good morning, Kaila & Friends! The first flurries arrived sometime during the night and now it's coming down steadily. If I keep power after it gets heavier today, I'll be surprised. I see many of us are under this same system... it's so huge!

One fun thing is that since I live on a hill street and travel is restricted, some of the streets have been closed off for sledding. Kind of wish I'd have a sled (for real!) but considering it's only 9 degrees and wind chills will get as cold as -17 below, I'm thinking I'd probably chicken out anyhow. 🀭

Good Morning, Kaila & Friends! Snow is coming down as predicted. Nothing I can do about it so not worrying about the weather. Instead I am going to cook some food. Most of my food has to be cooked. But I am realizing even though I don't eat much canned foods that I need to stock up on some that I can eat. So planning an order, even though it is too late for this storm. I wrote for years about modern homesteading and prepping so have to figure out how to apply it to my present life. Completely different but I can still do it. I would say have a great day but instead will just say praying our power stays on and we can all be warm & fed!

Good Afternoon, Kaila and Friends πŸ€— :coffee: ❄️

I've just checked and so far, my county has received 8.2 inches of snow with a total of 10 - 14 expected over the weekend. I'm happy to report that the power is on and everything is okay here. Husband dug out a latrine for Lucius and he was very good about understanding the situation.

I'm actually getting something positive from this storm in the form a Lucius walks break! It was so glorious to not have to go out this morning and to know I won't have to go out all day! I did 15 mins on the treadmill, before exercises, to make up for the morning walk and I'll do another later in the day.

@CallMeKate, husband and I were reminiscing this morning about taking the kids sledding when they were young. There are a bunch of kids with parents down the street right now sledding in the hollow of the landscape at the apartment buildings. More power to them; have a good time. :)

Sending warm, safe (power on) vibes to all the good people here. πŸ₯• πŸ₯• πŸ₯•
@katlupe has coffee covered this morning so Ima bring pancakes! I've really been craving carbs lately.

Good morning @Kaila and co. I hope you've managed some sleep @Kaila. πŸ’€

Well, grandson messaged me to say he'd arrived at Manchester airport then again to say he'd arrived in Budapest so I can rest easier now.

I had a stroll to Aldi for a few bits and pieces and came back with a few extras too. One was a soft dressing gown and the other was some wool. I bought a cardigan recently, which is brightly (multi) coloured and looks almost hand knitted in a very chunky wool. There's only one thing wrong with it, it doesn't have pockets and I love pockets so when I saw this chunky wool in Aldi I decided to get it and knit a couple of pockets. Won't take very long to make them!

Going to get a bit to eat then get on with my knitting project whilst watching one of the snooker semi finals.

Talking of eating... I could just eat the dish the @RadishRose posted... looks delicious. πŸ˜‹

I'm impressed that you knit your own pockets!

It's snowing heavily, this evening, here in New England.

We're supposed to be used to it here, πŸ˜‰

And we are. πŸ™ƒπŸ˜πŸ˜„

However, it's a lot different when we're older and more disabled, than when we were young, strong adults and actually enjoyed it.

I'm glad we don't need to go anyplace tomorrow, on Monday.
Though everyone will be closed, so no place to go. πŸ˜„

I hope for our heat to stay on , as it is extremely cold.
I'm hoping that all of you, will stay warm and safe, as well.

Good morning Kaila and friends.
It’s snowing out and is supposed to snow all day long with wet rain intervals. It’s currently -10 degrees .out so I expect that rain will freeze. Luckily like @Kaila, we have no place to go this Monday so we will stay put. Hopefully we don’t lose power but if we do we are ready for it.

I hope you all stay safe during this big storm or by all those affected by it.
Stay home
Stay safe.

Good morning, Kaila & Friends! Good news is that I still have power. Surreal news is that it's still snowing. Plows haven't gone on my street yet and it's more than a foot deep. I'm glad to hear there's no place you have to be today, Kaila!

Very glad you have power and heat!!!

I'm extremely thankful to have power and heat, here too!

Yes, the amount of snow is amazing. Ours was glistening with ice crystals, yesterday evening. πŸ€—πŸ€©
