A child flies out of an SUV making a turn in California. A real close call with the car behind the SUV but that driver stopped in time. The SUV driver who was eventually arrested for child abuse did stop and put the child back in the car. The child was hospitalized with injuries consistent with the fall.

Picture shows a real close call. Not only lucky her child wasn't hit but her stopping or baby on the ground could've caused an accident.

Happen to me as a child......door opened on a turn and out I went. We didn't have seat belts or child seats back then. Not injured though. No hospital. Thanks Dad for stopping and getting me back in the car. :)
 
Sadly, all of the tickets and fines in the world can’t fix stupid.

When I was a kid nobody ever flew out of the old pickup trucks.

Safety was drummed into us, the driver was cautious, big kids looked out for little kids, we had fun, and everyone survived.

I remember when I was a child and in the backseat with my sister. My parents wouldn't start the car, unless the back doors were both closed all of the way, and locked. Looking back, I guess we were lucky. I guess if someone's in a hurry, locked and closed doors is something one might overlook.

Apparently she also had no seat for the kid.
This woman is uninterested and dumb, but child abuse? Maybe she's mentally challenged and incapable.

Some car doors lock if the car is in motion. Mine does it. I think it's called a child safety feature I"ll have to check.
 
Wow. I find it hard to believe, in this day and age, when (in the States, at least) you literally are not permitted to leave the hospital with a newborn unless you have an appropriate car seat, that a mother would not have her child properly strapped in.

The rules for car seats and boosters vary from state to state, but an 18-month-old most certainly should have been strapped in.

Actually, maybe it's not so hard to believe.

OK, rant over. ;)I'm so glad the child was not killed, and I hope the injuries aren't severe.

And yeah, things were different back when I was a kid. I nearly fell out of a car once myself! I was a little older, though, probably 7or 8 I think.

There are so many in L.A. that learned to drive in another country and follow their laws (if any), so there is that maybe.
 
I remember when I was young my mom fell out of my brothers car. It was winter and the door had iced up so didn't latch, when they went around a corner she slid out onto the road. Poor mom was a mess, bruised and bloodied, took a long time to heal up.

The mother in the video is too lazy and stupid to raise a child, she didn't make a mistake, she willfully ignored the law and common sense parenting by not securing the child. I hope that give the poor kid to another family to raise.
 
When I was a kid, my dad was pulling up to drop me off at my friend's house and I opened the door to jump out before the car stopped. I saw people do this on TV and thought I'd give it a try.

I didn't think about the weight of the door which seemed to open with a lot more force than I expected. Thankfully, my dad saw what was happening and grabbed me by my shirt. He held onto me cursing until he stopped the car. I was about eight at the time.

I went on to try many stupid things like that, sometimes falling from heights that should have at least caused me broken bones. I fell off a dam breast once, and backwards off a second floor railing.

Except for the possibility of becoming a road waffle, what happened to that kid seems pretty mild for all the fuss. Sorry but, by the time I was his age, I had already fallen down flights of stairs several times.
 
I saw the video. Thank God that driver was able to stop on a dime. Can you imagine how horrible he or she would have felt if they had run over that child?! Who knows if the mother would have sense enough to feel anything! :mad: Some people do not need to have children. But perhaps I'm assuming and judging too harshly. Maybe she couldn't afford a car seat. Maybe her car does not have child proof locks. Maybe the child was fooling with the lock and the door opened. :rolleyes:
 
Circa 1952. As told to me. I'm in the back seat of my parents' 1940s 4 door car. We go around a corner, slowly, and I fly out the passenger side door onto the gravel berm. Dad rushes me to local hospital, I wake up at home with a giant bandage around my head. I still have a dent in the back of my head. I have no memory of the actual events.

They said I might be drain bamaged, but I'm okay.
