Taken to the hospital

Ron fractured his calcaneus bone, (heel of his foot) when he fell out of the attic. He has surgery to insert a plate and a number of screws. He was 78 at the time of the fall.

Any surgery comes with risks. Doctors evaluate the state of a persons’s health thoroughly to evaluate their potential reaction to the stress of surgery, the anesthesia involved etc. Ron was a good surgery candidate…right up to the point where he reacted to one of the drugs—fentanyl—which he had a serious reaction to.
Congratulation!!:) Successful Surgery and Recovery. :)
Mine was I fell onto the hardwood floor with thick carpet and concrete floor in my bedroom when I attempted to retrieve a towel from the rack. Mostlikely, I lost balance due to my left leg has some numbness.
My Otho.octor told me there were two places of the heel of my right foot fractured and he recommeded 'cast' old fashion) rather than Surgery due to my advanced age. Also, I've been on several different medications, but nothing serious health condition I have.
I wore 'Cast' day and night, including during sleep for one month and afterwards, 'special shoes or boot' not to put weight on it.
Now, almost three months, I can walk, but not like 'prior to the injury.'
My ortho.doctor told me I need either Cane or Walker to accommodate walking.

Both feet are VERY important for us to move around. The ability to lose it, it's pretty much I need to stay home which I don't mind, because I love sewing, cooking and other household chores. I have no issue walking around the house, just outside I need to be careful.

Pepper, I hope you get out of the hospital soon. I haven’t seen any of your posts since Tuesday, and I really hope you’re feeling better and can come back here soon.
