Not as rare as you think!
There have been 8 earthquakes in the last three years between Watertown and Buffalo.
DH and I were in Rochester, and we felt the 2.4 quake centered in Cobourg ON 21 years ago.

We’ve felt a couple in the Syracuse area that seem to originate in the Blue Mountain Lake area.
The worst jiggle was in 1983 and we had a minor one in 2024.
