I disagree with some of your statements, @Deya. Unless Nancy had been (legally) declared mentally incompetent her children had no standing to demand she move elsewhere, wear a life-alert bracelet, have a security system or make other life changes. We also have no idea whether Nancy's children discussed those matters with her. Since they were obviously caring and attentive, it's hard to imagine they hadn't.
Hired pool and landscaping services are quite common in the southwest. When Ms. Guthrie saw folks working outside she may have smiled, waved and talked about the weather a bit, but the relationship was unlikely more than that. Whether she had a house cleaning service is unknown, but there was apparently no live-in help.
My husband and I are in our early 70s and intend to age in place for as long as possible. We expect our children to be supportive of our wishes and not attempt to impose changes in our lives because it makes them feel more comfortable.

The post you previously quoted had nothing to do with your comment.. it sounded like your comment was like negative remarks I'd seen on MSN.. I apologize if I made a mistake with that.

Mrs. Guthrie was/is perfectly competent to make her own decisions. This disaster is not the fault of her family.
This has been a valuable training operation for law enforcement.
Sometimes I see the dribble or slow walk of information and have to think some of it is a planned leak or disclosure to put pressure on the perps. They might already have a pretty good ideal who they are and want to pressure them into a mistake or releasing ms Guthrie. Here's hoping anyway

Is it me.....shouldn't they have tried that a lot sooner...or did they and the news outlets slow in reporting this?Now they have revealed that they're trying to "ping" Nancy's pacemaker. Unfortunately, that may lead the perps to take it out.
It reminds me of when I lost my fitbit. I walked around the house and yard hoping it would connect.
It would be wonderful if they found her through that tech

The latest on ABC Evening News:
1. They are now also looking in Mexico for Nancy Guthrie.
2. There is a new kind of DNA marker that can pinpoint first & second cousins on family tree searches. This may have already been mentioned, but I’ll mention it again as it was part of their recap.
3. An anonymous donor has added 100K to the reward pot, for a total of 200K. That should shake somone out of a tree.
A Sidebar: there have been some really good theories on this forum. It’s too bad the police and FBI aren’t smart enough to look toward every day people for their thoughts. Not just clue tips but their thoughts or maybe they have and they just don’t publish it. OK it’s Wednesday evening back to Expedition Unknown on the Discovery Channel.

The family says she was, but I question how competent, when her security camera program was allowed to expire for a year and she knew she had health issues that might require life alert, but didn't and lived alone in a large house with no porch light sensors or any form of basic security. Apparently, she wasn't competent enough to make good decisions about her safety. Maybe she just didn't care and that is where her kids should have kept all the basic safety things up even if they had to pay for it. The one local daughter could have had kept a Ring camera going and monitored it on her cell phone.
Both myself and husband are of sound mind and very security wise, but still one granddaughter is also connected to our Ring and knows when someone is at our door.
She no doubt wanted to keep the family home and stay there, but her children should have made sure she was safe. She was 84 and her body sure wasn't as sound as it once was and I bet her mind wasn't as inattentive as it once was. She kept up her security for years, but only in the last year let it lapse. That tells me she wasn't thinking as clearly as she once did and her kids should have made sure security was kept up to date.
You can bet, despite some posts, they have pursued every known investigative technique, every crime can't be solved despite superior police work. I read the Boston Strangler in the 60's. You would not believe the investigative work that was done, Things I never heard of. You know how they narrowed in on the Son of Sam, brilliant.
They ran a routine check of everyone in a certain radius of the murder scene who had received a traffic ticket within X time of the murder, bam.
Nothing about this entire crime, that makes sense. I doubt anyone involved, is going to spend years in prison, for a reward that they would stripped of anyway. Anyone that is withholding info waiting for a big reward, is a piece of
IMO and should be beat in public.So when they discover that the person in the video is a woman, as I have said repeatedly, I seriously doubt they will send me $200K.

Now they've found that someone searched Nancy's address and another search of Savannah's salary. One of the searches of the home was two or three weeks before she disappeared.
If they can reverse trace that they may have him/her.

I heard that. In some respects that's scary. Also if the searcher used a proxy server it could amount to another dead end.
The question still remains why pick her mom. If she was in a well to do neighborhood wouldn't there be other potential targets. Maybe they should check searches of their neighbors salary etc. If others in that neighborhood weren't searched it could mean someone who already had business or contact with her.

It sounds like It’s almost like stick Mother out in the desert to die!
I’m 81 years old and I am able to protect myself in my home one heck of a lot better and with just basic things. Simple battery powered motion alarms downstairs and cameras and motion lights around outside and weapons within reach.
But if we ever get to where we are that weak and bad off you can bet that we will have things set up to where we can alert friends and neighbors in case of an emergency and the same neighbors know that they can depend on me for anything.
I thought the same way about all of the people that an elderly woman would come in contact with but maybe they have all been checked out by the Police.

Nick had been embarrassed, but stood respectfully while the man pounded a drum in his face.
Consequently this made Nick a darling of the right wing who believed his Maga hat was what made Savannah interview him so harshly.
So she does have people who don't like her, but would anyone go this far? I don't like her, but I certainly wouldn't wish this on anyone.

I thought the reward was too low to begin with...$50,000...really?! The chances she'll be found alive are slimmer and slimmer. I read a report that said Savanah used a secret code word meant for the kidnapper in one of her messages. The article didn't say what that word was. Also read that they are focusing on a man who lives in the area who went missing around the same time as Nancy Guthrie. That may be a good lead to follow, especially if his description is similar to the profile they put together.
