2026 - How's the Weather Where You Are

Tuesday we got 8 inches in the valley where I live and some parts of the valley got up to 15 inches depending on the elevation. The mountains up in Tahoe got 3–5 feet depending on location.

Today we got another 5 inches of snow. Unfortunately, since it’s not a regular occurrence, we do not have enough snow removal equipment to keep up when there’s a bad storm. The only roads that they manage to plow are the very main roads.

Sadly, nine people died in an avalanche a few days ago. A tour group took up 11 people to stay in cabins and ski and there were also four guides. They left on Sunday and were going to return home on Tuesday when the avalanche happened. There has been speculation about why the tour company didn’t cancel the tour because the extremely bad weather was accurately predicted in advance.

Up early as usual, turned on outside lights and let the dogs out. Woah! Six inches of new snow and still coming down. I was planning to go to town this morning for a few errands. Time to switch to Plan B, which includes shoveling.
