An American Airlines jet/737 wound up with bullet holes after traveling from Medellin Columbia to Miami. Punctures in exterior apparently bullet holes. No injuries and landed safely. Apparently no issues or alarms in flight.

Holes found in post flight inspection. Columbia authorities also investigating since there have been pro Venezuela protests in Columbia

Bullet holes found on the right aileron which controls roll and balance.

The fuselage can take a few holes without effecting the pressurization. Maybe if a window was blown out, it would be a more critical
incident. As for the ailerons, they control more of the roll than the balance. This is called the yaw where a plane rolls left and right and right and left, etc.

Ailerons are more importantly used for banking in a turn. Ailerons are located on the wingtips. If the left one goes down, the right one goes up and vice versa. Planes don’t make a turn like a car does, instead they bank into a turn. This positions the plane into a new heading.

I would imagine it scared the heck out of the passengers.
