It's 5pm and it's still gloriously sunny.. 🌞 I'm really irritated that I didn't get going out...

Parcel arrived... I was just coming out of the barn and I heard a loud crash.. and the delivery person for the first time for Amazon... had thrown it over my side gate...... if only they always did that I would have felt safe enough to go out, but Amazon are the only delivery drivers who never do that.. all other delivery compamies do...
I've even spoken to customer services about it and they assured me that a note to that effect goes on all my deliveries.. but they just ignore it..

Anyway in the meantime..my kitchen is sparkling... I got a few jobs done... and it will be dark again in an hour !

Woke up this morning in Antelope Valley and with violent gusting winds of 20 to 30 mph, at 5:45am PDT, drove mostly with my cruise control set to 75 mph in light Saturday traffic on I5, 310 miles north back home, arriving at 10:55am. Unpacked, thoroughly showered and am now downloading off SD media, about an hours worth of image files from the last 4 days in the field. Expect results will be one of my best wildflower landscape photo trips ever.

In the mean time now at 12:25pm with a temperature of 73F degrees and 7mph breeze, will drive 6 more miles to an outdoor San Jose venue where a Rock and Pop cover band plays several outdoor sets from 1pm. I'll print out there song list that is very common here in California that has large number of cover bands. Not all my preferred Classic Rock songs but I will dance to most all of it. More later..

I just had my dinner tonight maybe an hour ago... and my neighbur brought me arund Fish & Chips Romanian style....

I didn't eat the fish it was fried in something I have no idea what..I believe it was some oily fish like Mackerel... but I wouldn't have been able to eat it anyway having just had my dinner

I did eat some of the chips they were actually super light and tasty.... the dip was Garlic Mayo & Capers...

I think you have been adopted.

A crabby, crabby day today for me! And all for small reasons. Please note that I am indeed grateful for the largest, most important things in life, such as having a roof over my head, enough food to eat, family, etc.

BUT

I need to vent, so everyone please feel free to skip over the rest of this post.

It started off great with a truly excellent AA meeting. Then I got pulled over and given a traffic ticket for speeding (46 in a 35). Grrr. I hate to make mistakes (well, an error in judgment, really) like this. Now I have to pay $30, and face an increase in my insurance rates, probably, through nobody's fault but my own. (I like it better when I can blame someone, ha ha.) The police officer was quite kind and asked if I was rushing to an appointment, but (1) I don't think well on my feet and (2) I try to always be honest, so I sheepishly just told him that no, I was simply driving too fast.

Then the winter storm blasted in, guns blazing. 'Nuff said about that.

Now, the forecast for this week has gotten worse: freezing rain all day Tuesday and most of the night, so unless that changes (and it might) I will almost certainly have to put off my visit to the grandchildren until the week of March 23.

Work has been frustrating, for too many reasons to go into here, although I am very glad to HAVE work.

I know all of these things are very trivial, and I hope I am not offending SF members who are facing much more serious problems.

I'm off to read the news and give myself a badly needed reality check and adjust my attitude. But right now I am grouchy.
I'm sure you're not offending anyone. All our problems are relative... what seems huge to one, may seem trivial to another and Vice Versa....and this is precisely what this thread is about... whatever has happened in your day, you can come here good or bad an just let it all out !

Here in the Uk if you get a speeding fine, you don't see an increase in Insurance, that only happens if you are taken to court for speeding and given points on your driving licence. ..so you have to declare the points when you're next renewing your Insurance..

I don't know how it works in the US..but here, something like doing 30mph over the speed limit would get you probably 3 points on your licence. Driving while slightly over the drink drive limit might get you up to 6 points... more serious traffic violation can get you anything up to 12 points. As soon as 12 points are on the licence it's an automatic driving ban...

Just to make you feel a little better... if you had been stopped here in the Uk doing 46 in a 35 zone... you would have got 3 points on your licence and your fine would likely be around £100 or more.....but sometimes they see it as a category B offence which would mean a fine of around 75 % of your income..PLUS 4-6 points on your licence...

...so just feel better you're not driving here...lol...hope that cheered you up...:D

Thank you for the kind words, @hollydolly. I'm not exactly sure how many points I'll get on my license. We've moved to so many different states that it's hard to keep track of the individual laws. And the last speeding ticket I got was in Iowa in 2015.

The officer was nice and bumped it down to say I was doing only 10 miles over instead of 11; I think 11 would have bumped me into a higher category.

This was the last subject I shot on my 5-day road trip, yesterday Friday March 13, 2026 near sunset as I stopped while the mostly high clouded sky was partially sun lit from below making for interesting light. Over 2600 jpg files for focus stack blending and stitch blending in folders for each of 4 days. The below single frame subject file was blended from 12 shots at F5.0 the sharpest aperture, zoomed to 40mm, on my new Sigma 17mm40mm DC ART zoom lens. Processed minutes ago, the first today with Zerene Stacker and Adobe Photoshop.

Downsized for web to 1400 by 933 pixels from the original at 6150 by 4100 pixels.

100% pixels 1200 by 1200 pixel crop from above full image original at frame center bottom edge that shows my expensive zoom lens high resolution.

100% pixels 1200 by 1200 pixel crop from the above full image from center top edge. Do you now see the 2 people out in the flowers that are on another parallel dirt road? I could easily crop them out for aesthetic's, however it does add an element of dimension. With my camera angle pointed down, I cropped out large numbers above that car, of power line towers and windmills. That area has extensive solar cell and windmill power farms and associated power transmission lines on tall towers. Starting to close up California poppies, purple owls clover, goldfields, bicolor lupine, plus already closed up for the day creamcups.

Unfortunately a strong wind rose up in the evening. I temporarily turned on my smartphone mobile data mode the brought up wunderground dot com for a weather site just a bit further west. That showed a major wind event lasting for a couple days that was time to end my trip as I cannot shoot much except in moments of calm to near calm conditions. Pre-trip Monday I filled with gasoline at $4.49/gal then Tuesday on the drive down $4.99/gal, and today Friday bought $25 for $5.89/gal along the Interstate just to safely reach home. Locally the station I used for the $4.49 gas is now $5.19/gal. Many stations on the drive now up or above $6/gallon.

I woke up around 1:50 a.m., fixed a snack of cheese and crackers and took my meds. Afterwards I spent time doing some digital purging and organizing, including creating folders (by year) for my digital taxes and supporting documents for the last few years. It's a tedious task so I haven't finished yet. Perused some posts here and now I'm going to relax, have ice cream and watch TV. Yeah...I'm having dessert before breakfast. :p

thankfully being an Island only the size of Oregon... our laws are basically the same in England, Scotland, Wales and N ireland... so we know what the laws are.. albeit with a popualtion in mega millions

Hopefully yours will be just a slap on the wrist... 🤞

Everybody have a good day

Today is Mothers day...it's a glorious sunny morning... but the wind is very strong.

I'm not going out with my daughter, she's got the lurgy... so we'll leave it to a double celebration next month on our Birthdays... I did get a lovely card, and a call this morning...

Happy Mothers day to all British Mothers

Mother's Day in the US is in May. When I saw this, I thought Oh No! I almost missed it! What month is this? Is it May already? LOL!

1773578890963.png We had a good drive to the rink this yesterday, clear skies, mild temp, and light traffic.

The morning party was for a 10 year old girl. Most of them sat around nattering and giggling, the way girls do. I was skating for close to 4 hours, mostly by myself! It was a lot of fun!

The rink's public session was very crowded out on the skating floor. I'm not really comfortable with that many people, so I'm glad that I tired myself out earlier.

I did get to visit with my friend and her 17 yr old twins. Her daughter has grown into an absolutely amazing young woman! Her son is severely autistic. Guess what? He spoke to me yesterday!!!!! That is only the second (3rd?) time he has ever spoken to me, without being prompted by his Mom. I was soooo excited, and happy for him!!! He has come a long way, I'm very proud of him!

🌬 🌬 🌬 🌬 🌬
It's windy today....VERY windy!!!! Gusts up to 45 mph!!

So far, I'm expecting a normal Sunday morning: cuppa coffee, breakfast, workout, walk (????), cuppa tea, and then....??????

No real plans as of now.

Same with me! Somebody posted this on Reddit, and within minutes someone else jumped in and told all the Americans to calm down because the OP was British. 😄

Happy Mother's Day, @hollydolly, and any other British moms who may be reading this!

@Trila, your body must be in amazing condition for you to skate for 4 hours. So impressive!

@hollydolly, Happy Mother's Day! I hope your daughter recovers quickly so you two can celebrate the holiday together soon. ❤️

Had the littles yesterday because DS & DDIL needed to finish doing their taxes. They also looked at a pickup truck that they ended up buying. $50K for a used truck!!! Yowza! It's a Ford F150, only 25K miles, 2023, four door hybrid. It's gorgeous and has all manner of whiz-bang electronics. We're all relieved that he's replaced his tiny Honda Fit with something that would fare better in a (heaven forbid) accident. Especially since he's often got the two littles in the back seat.

Not much on the agenda today. A Walmart pickup will be ready soon. While there, DH wants to shop their nursery for a few plants: tomatoes, a fresh rosemary (ours bit the dust), and I might see about a flat leaf parsley plant. My mint, Italian basil, and Thai basil are all thriving, so that bodes well for branching out a bit. Might even give cilantro another go.

Quite warm here and it looks like it will stay that way. Summer has arrived very early to So Cal.

Hope you make today a good one, SFers!

We slept in,,Awake at 9 a.m.!

Hubby was doing some work yesterday, helping nephew with wind blown trees.
One tree is very large!
They hope to cut it up Monday,,,,IF there is no rain/snow.

This morning after the critters had their attention,, got out the slow cooker.
Cut up a beef roast, put it in the cooker.

Then time for my breakfast,, and read the news.
Checked Facebook,, son had some pictures from Antarctica.
He sure likes birds as, some of his first pictures were of native birds.

Hope everyone has a good day.
