Has Anyone Here Managed to Set Up an Online IRS Account?

Wanted to make sure our IRS taxes were paid--have since found out they have been--so went to the IRS site and tried and tried to get an account and after many tries, finally got to the point of where it wanted Huzz's picture to verify his identity and even though our phones are fairly new (iPhone 16), it kept saying "picture doesn't work, try again."

I'm thinking about trying yet again but this time clicking on "If you don't have a smart phone with a camera"; maybe it'll let me email some kind of ID verification to them?

I don't know who does your taxes but I have an account with H&R block though their website and they email me to let me know what's happening.
We have our taxes done by a large financial/CPA firm here in town. I think I'm going to call them tomorrow and see about getting something like that set up with them; thanks.

We tried to set up an online account with the IRS when they changed to a new system. They made such a mess of things neither myself or my husband were able to sign in after years of easily accessing our records! They ultimately said that we had to present ourselves in person so they could sort it out but then they closed so many offices no one could even find it in downtown Portland so we just gave up. We get a statement mailed to us every year that says the amount of taxes are paid. Haven't had an issue and our tax person has a clear picture.

I have an IRS account, set up with automatic withdrawals from a savings account that is specifically for my quarterly tax payments.

I have an automatic weekly deposit set up from my checking account to that savings account so that there’s always enough money in it to cover those quarterly payments.

Yearly have to re-set up those automatic withdrawals, because the specific dates for IRS quarterly payments change slightly every year.

I’ve been doing it this way for quite a few years. The security protocols the government has in place for this are extreme. Took a while to set up. But so convenient and hassle free, great way to pay my quarterly payments without having to think about it.

I wonder what it will take to cancel this when that day arrives?
