What's pleased you today? Don't even think about whinging here.

It's 72 f..here 🌞🌞..and hotter still in my sun trap garden.. so for the last hour and a half I've been finishing off trimming the high hedges which I started yesterday.... so I'm pleased that's done for another month ...

I've just come in for a cold drink, then I'll go back out and clear up the cuttings...

I wanted to put on some music and found a CD among my things. It was the soundtrack to the stage play, "Girl from the North Country". The play reinterprets songs by Bob Dylan. I put it on and had a big smile on the face for a good 60 minutes. So much fun with great voices and new arrangements.

Well, I'm packed and ready to take off on Sunday morning. We have reservations for the first five nights and I'm working on the rest. Problem is that the Spousal Equivalent gets picky about hotels/motels. All I want is clean and safe. Thrifty is good, too. I'm not paying $200 a night. I want them to be near the attractions I'm interested in, too.

He's also a "let's-get-there-with-the-fewest-stops-and-side-trips-possible" type and I'm an "Oooh-look-at-that! Let's-stop" type. If you have both of those types in a car, someone is going to be unhappy.

Anyway, after the memorial service in Virginia (it seems like all our vacations are worked in around funerals and memorial services.....which is what happens when you have lots of cousins), we're heading to West-by-God-Virginia to tour an historic lunatic asylum (haunted, of course), a glass-blowing facility, a coal mine tour, an arts center, as many waterfalls as possible, caverns, and a historic town where there is a church his 4-greats grandfather founded. Oh, an any battlefield we come across.

Well seeing we are into the Month of May 2026. I looked up my calendar and noticed all the birthdays for the month of May, including Mother's Day which is 10th May in Australia. There are 15 birthdays including my Granddaughter and son. My Vietnamese neighbour said she wanted to take me for an evening meal for Mother's Day. I was very taken by her lovely invite.
We shared 2 meals and when I got home, I got into the PJ's and immediately fell on the lounge asleep, awoke at 12 and got into bed and slept again until 6a.m. This was great as I have been unable to sleep through my illness. Life is good again.

What pleased me yesterday was having my car pass it's MOT.... and the cost of that, plus the cost of a new tyre & fitted and labour was a very pleasing small amount... compared to most other garages (y)
