“Just because” Surprises are the best kind!! :)

Enjoy your new car, @Ronni!
Does Crossover mean it's a hybrid?

Nope. A crossover is a type of sport utility vehicle. It had a unibody construction which Ron says is a big deal. 🤷‍♀️ It’s sort of a cross between a truck and a car. Crossovers typically have better interior comfort, a more comfortable ride and superior fuel economy, than either a truck or SUV, but the trade off is less off-road capability, which we don’t do anyway unless we borrow a friend’s 4 wheeler.

Because they're based on car designs rather than trucks (I guess that’s where the unibody comes in) they tend to be more stable and easier to drive. This one is a dream to maneuver through smaller spaces even compared to the caddy, and it’s easier to park. And though a hybrid would give more gas mileage, I sure won’t complain about this one!! 26 city/33 highway MPG, with an average of around 28. Caddy did about 19.

@Ronni,such a nice surprise. Did your hubby know what color you liked?
It looks black. I had a black car once and found it so hard to keep clean. Maybe these days the finish is different on them and it won't be a problem.
I wish you many happy hours driving in your new car.

Ruth It is black and yes he knows I prefer darker colors. He bought me the caddy too and it was midnight blue.

my experience is been the exact opposite or yours....my car before the caddy was white, and the one before it was silver. I had THE DEVIL of a time keeping them looking clean!!! Darker cars look cleaner longer to me between washes.

Perhaps it’s a regional thing too...air quality, urban vs rural, pollution, pollen etc.
