🏋 My old Fitness Center

I was going through my photo album, purging the excess, and I came across some pictures of the Fitness Center that I belonged to, when I lived in Illinois (pre-2000). It was a really nice place! Of course, membership was not cheap, but we were there almost 7 days a week, so well worth it! In nice weather, I could even walk there, it was only a few blocks away from our house.

Please excuse the poor quality. These are pictures of pictures, cropped to size.....

There were 2 full sized basketball corts, side by side. The running track was actually a balcony that went around the 2 courts. You entered the track from the main level, where the weight machines were. You can see some of the machines through the window on the far side of the track. I spent a lot of time on that track & working on the machines!

The pool room was awesome!!!! They had a great play area for the kids...namely ME!!! LOL! I loved going down that slide! To the left of the picture, you can see just the edge of the full sized lap pool. Farther to the left (not in the picture), was a whirlpool for adults only.

As you can see, this was a really nice place!!! Going there was the best part of my day!

I loved going to the pool at the gym but I don't want to pay the monthly fee and they are not allowing the 3-4 month one time payment membership like they used to.

This looks like a nice place.

We have a beautiful community rec center, that's underutilized. I'm eligible for free passes or discounts.

I went to the pool once and got a UTI (I think). So that was the end of that. Everything else is things I can't do or don't want to do (e.g., walking track, yoga, skating). Oh well!

For weights, etc., we have only the privately owned gym, which is too expensive.

It was. But I moved away from that area in 2000.

The membership wasn't that high. The Center was part of the Park District...so our taxes paid for a part of it.
