Tragic... :(

Phoenix police are searching for the gunman who shot and killed a 10-year-old girl as she sat with her family in a car in their driveway in an apparent road rage incident, authorities said.

"This is heartbreaking... that I lost my baby like this," her mother, Taniesha Brown, told reporters Thursday, overcome with emotion. "She was just a baby."

Around 5:45 p.m. Wednesday, 10-year-old Summerbell Brown was in the car with her parents and sister when the family noticed a white pickup truck closely following them, according to the Phoenix Police Department.

As they turned into their driveway, the truck stopped behind them and the suspect fired several shots, said police.

Such a shame, may Summerbell rest in peace and sympathy to her family. :( People are so extremely angry these days it seems, what happened to the days when 'road rage' was just cursing a bad driver or flipping them off? Now it has to go to the extreme, just for traffic annoyances/problems.

Road rage is becoming more and more of a problem....there are just far too many nutcases on the roads anymore....and a simple "oops" can easily result in another shooting. This article didn't say what started the confrontation, but it's probably a safe bet that a "big mouth", or obscene gesture escalated the situation.

Senseless act by a total POS. At least confront the other driver. I couldn't even get satisfaction with a weapon. I want to hear the other driver's skull crack after I start making my point complete with a lecture.

Heart goes out to the family.

RIP

I can relate to those feelings. When the cops finally catch this guy I'd like them to handcuff him to the bumper of the patrol car and drive him down to the station at 55mph.

And when I say bumper, I'm talking about that push bumper that they have on the front.

I investigated a few cases of road rage during my time as a state trooper, but thankfully no one was ever seriously hurt. People take things like being cut off, or someone pulling out in front of them as personal. Then, if they decide to blow their horn at them, the next thing is that the driver who committed the careless act is giving the guy the bird.

After that, things tend to go south in a hurry. The very worse case that I can remember is when a U-Haul truck pulled out of a rest area on the Turnpike in front of a semi and the driver of the semi decided to try to run the U-Haul driver into the guard rail, which caused a lot of damage to the U-Haul truck. I arrested the driver of the semi and took him to jail until he posted bail.

At trial he claimed a moment of mindlessness and the district justice sentenced him to 5 days in jail, plus a $500.00 fine, plus costs. The judge then suspended the sentence, if the fine was paid within ten days.

I tell people all the time when I am called out to answer a call of road rage. Just keep driving and if the other driver follows you, pull into a very busy place of business and call the police. Then, while you are waiting, stay calm and do not make eye contact.

AC...I live in the Phoenix metro area and we see more and more craziness involving guns and booze or cars. This case breaks your heart....

My condolences to the family of the victim. May the little child rest in peace. Heart breaking.

I like to torture aggressive drivers by using passive aggressive driving tactics. If someone starts to tailgate me I will set my cruise control right on the speed limit and kick back and watch them in the rear view mirror as they get all red faced and start saying the word "Fork" over and over.

This is so sad and makes no sense at all. I feel so bad for that sweet little girl's family. Too much of this stuff is going on and they are killing our children without regard. Blessedly however, a couple of times I saw where the bullet(s) missed children. I seriously hope they catch who did it and throw him in with GP with men who have children so they can beat his a*s to a pulp. Sorry....but that's how I feel.

Does everyone in America drive with a gun at their side? No wonder so many people are getting shot. If someone gets angry it's too easy to settle things with a gunshot, instead of words.

This is why I'm getting my car fixed Wed. There's too much violence everywhere nowadays. What can you say to comfort parents at at time like this? It's beyond belief.
