My goodness the woman was 100 years old. They couldn't wait a few more years? How many more years did they think she had?

It shouldn't even matter if she had to stay somewhere else for a few years no matter what the agreement stated. So she broke the agreement- so what! She was a 100 year old woman !!! What is wrong with people? It's such a big fat deal to be "in the right"; to get their greedy hands on a few more dollars just because they "could". Greed.

Greed is good. Really. It's a motivator. If a person is in business there is only one objective and that is to maximise profit especially in terms of ROCE.

Also note her building is being converted into condos and she was the last tenant to approve the deal. And they claim she wasn't maintaining the unit over run with pests. Yet the various traps found laying around the apartment show she was making an attempt. Also if she is still renting wouldn't the owner be responsible for pest control/exterminators? The building's owner said her lawyers hurt his reputation and demanded an apology from her in which she said no. The owner claimed that wasn't her permanent or primary residence and was living elsewhere.

I agree. The greed of people and the lack of basic humanity that stems from it are disgusting and is in large part what's wrong with America today. We need to value our elders and treat them with some respect and dignity.

The article appeals to a persons emotions. In order to evict a claim has to be proven, obviously that was the case.

But Rose's comments make sense to me. The woman was 100 years old, how much longer would she survive? Then there is the cost to develop cause for eviction. Given the probable time the woman had left that cost might have outweighed the waiting time.
