2 girls 13 & 15 carjacked a car in Washington DC with a taser. After taking off with the owner literally in tow on the driver door trying to stop them they crash car and kill the original driver/owner. As they are being pulled/assisted out of the crashed car with the dying owner laying on the ground they tell their rescuers 'wait my phone'

These girls set out to commit a crime, a felony grand theft auto with violence. They need to be locked up as long as possible. Not enough hugs doesn't cut it on this one.

They should be tried as adults and hopefully get life with no parole.

Utterly disgusting what animals some kids are becoming.

And let me offer a sincere apology to animals for the insult.

One of the girls did not live in DC. It's not like they were hanging on that corner looking for something to do. This was planned including getting a taser before hand. Carjackings/theft is up. Mostly teens.

I can't believe how criminal fads travel as fast as the lastest hair style or designer jeans. And do not conflate this as stealing a car. These are violent acts and they are directly affecting the owners lives because many have a car because they actually need it.

Nothing much will happen to the girls because of their ages.
WADR, I don't believe that.

Trying juveniles as adults for exceptionally violent or heinous crimes, especially when there is a victim involved who died as a result of said crime, is not uncommon at all.

What "parents"?
Today's parents both have to work just to keep their heads above water. I was so lucky I was able to be a stay at home mother. Unfortunately today's kids are raising each other and indeed doing a very poor job of it.

I suppose that contributes some, but when I was a kid in the late 60's to mid 70's, both my parents worked too. In 1966, I was 9 years old and my dad got sent to SE Asia for a year by Uncle Sam. My older sister was about 13 - 14. My mom had to work five days a week and leave us at home by ourselves all day.

And yes, we got into a little bit of trouble, but nothing like carjacking and killing people.

The kind of crap some kids are getting into these days is just insane.

Whenever I research such cases, I usually find out where the kids learned such behavior - from their parents.

I worked for several years as a substitute teacher in the local public school system. Mostly high schools but occasionally middle schools, aka jr high.

I could always tell which kids very likely had a-holes for parents.

Parents doing a fine job raising their kids.

When you consider that almost half of today's marriages end up in divorce, That has to have an effect on any kids they might have. Even worse, more and more kids are being born to unwed mothers....in some ethnicities, that ranges up to 70%....and many of those kids may never know who their father really is, nor receive anything resembling an normal family life.

Some of the young have become desensitized to violence from having seen it modeled countless times and on many venues as a control, dominance, status, or solution thing. They are emotionally disconnected or numb to its consequences to others or themselves, lacking any kind of moral compass or sense of personal accountability. In my area, a shop owner was shot in the face by two young robbers even after fully complying with their demands...
