2-9-1964 the Beatles on Ed Sullivan.

I watched them on TV. I though my parents were the two most un-hippest people on the planet, yet even they had heard about the Beatles. OMG!!! for my parents, the guys had LONG hair. And they couldn't understand the girls' screaming, which by the way, was encouraged by the show's producers. I just loved watching and hearing them. One of the things i wished I knew back then was the name "Beatles". The guys idolized Buddy Holly, and his band was the "Crickets". So as a nod to Holly, The Beatles

Looking at the early Beatle appearances, it’s amazing how clean-cut they looked by today’s standards. Yes, they had long hair, and at times were dismissively called the “mop tops” by our elders…but in those early appearances, they wore suits!

As for the music, well, I was really more of a Rolling Stones guy! 😁

Remember the first appearance of the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan Show ?......I'd just turned fourteen.

Didn’t watch it and thought their music was annoying at first. But it grew on me and I collected all their albums as soon as they came out. I rarely listen to them any more but occasionally one or a cover will come on the radio and I’ll enjoy it again.

I watched this show and disliked their sound from the beginning.
And here I thought that I was the lone American that didn’t like the Beatles. Individually, I did like George Harrison and John Lennon.

My parents left me alone, at 13, to tape the show and scream. I don't know where they went, but they didn't want to be near me!

Shortly after, I was 7th row center to see them at Carnegie Hall. I love them with all my heart. They changed the world from old to new.

I was twelve and not into music yet but got caught up in all the hype leading up to it. The music didn't make much of an impression on me but the hair-shaking and carefree attitude did. I grew into the music and they became a big part of my adolescence. They broke up just as I was leaving my teen years behind.

I would have been almost 12 and listened to whatever my big brother liked. (he was 5 years older)
We watched the show and he announced that 'this will never last', as he loved Buddy Holly, Little Richard, etc.
Later, he did come over to the 'Dark Side' and liked their music.

Every time I hear 'American Pie' I think of what he listened to and feel a little sad for him.

Watched the show but didn’t care for them then and never did. I’m probably the minority about these guys, but I was more into country music and Elvis..
Me too! Saw them and saw Elvis on Ed Sullivan too!
The Beatles did nothing for me.
The REAL music was pre-Beatles.
I liked Elvis until he started making movies.
Then, to me, he lost all his magic.
