2024.....it can only get better.

It's hard to know where to start, but I'll try:

Some of you know that since the beginning of the year, Dio has been having a couple of different medical issues. I've not talked about them, and I'm not going to give any details. I just want to say that his treatments are very, very painful, and between the various doctors, he is have some sort of treatment (torture??) every 2 weeks.

Besides all of that, he has thrown his back two or three times. And he has had COVID at least once.

In short, this has been a miserable year so far, for him.

On the bright side, the treatments ARE working!!! Both conditions have shown great improvement!! He only has a total of 2 more torture sessions before being reassessed, and both doctors are very happy with the results so far.

Since Dio has not had a fever for 2 days, he decided that he was well enough to go to the rink yesterday. (Me: 🙄, head shaking......) He really didn't have to do much. If he wanted to, he could just sit around and deeyjay. Easy, right? Well, guess what?!! He lost his voice!!

He did the best he could, but he sure wasn't "chatty"! Everyone felt sorry for him...even the party Moms were chucking and saying "poor guy!"

Well, he's feeling much better today. He has a voice, when he coughs or blows his nose, he's actually getting stuff out....all good signs!

And what about Trila, you may ask? Well, I have no change....I'm still fighting off whatever it is that he has. So far, I've not had a fever at all....but I feel rundown and I've been taking it easy.

Today is sunny and warm. We've managed to go for a slow stroll through the woods this morning. It really helped to lift my spirits. There were forsythia flowers and daffodils everywhere! We stopped by the pond and watched the fish, there were even a few frogs that ended up watch us!

I'm glad that at least the treatments are working so he's not being "tortured" for nothing. I feel for him though...having to go through all that, bless his heart. I also hope for a better 2024 for both of you and all of us Trila.
Thank you! Last year, my friends SIL was diagnosed with one of the conditions that Dio has. This poor guy went through all of the treatments (he also called them torture)....but they didn't work for him. I don't know why, maybe they found out about it when it was too late??

Anyway, he has a permanent disability now. The last I heard, he was finally able to find someone willing to hire him...he goes around town collecting shopping carts that customers have walked off with. I think the thing that hurts him the most is that he can't support his family the way that he used to. 😕

He's such a great guy....it's all so sad.

We had some excitement last night. Just as we were going to bed, Dio looked out of the window. There is a fence pole about 40 feet away from the house. On top of the pole there was a BIG owl!!!!! He was so beautiful!

I tried to look him up. I think he was a Barred Owl. He just sat there for quite a while. I watched him when he finally did fly way, and got to see his huge wing span! It was incredible!

200.gif When will I ever learn?!!! Once again, I over did it at the rink, yesterday. I am continuously telling myself little fibs. Things like:
* you don't have a fever, you can go to the rink!
* you have done nothing but rest for the last 3 days, you'll be fine at the rink!
* nobody wants to skate in this nice weather, you'll have an easy day at the rink!

Etc, etc, etc.....
Truth is, we were extra busy and now I'm paying the price. My throat is raw from trying to talk to my customers, over all of the background noise and the music. I still have the dry cough, and I've lost my voice. Oh, and my sinuses hurt, from the load of cr*p that I'm carrying around up there!

Ok, enough of my whining! I'm almost done with my big bowl of coffee, and then I'm going to get my day started. My schedule for the whole day is to rest!

OIP.jpeg I suppose I'll need to wash dishes some time this afternoon.

This evening I will help Dio prepare for his next torture treatment, which he will have early tomorrow morning.

At least he is getting over this cold! Hopefully, tomorrow I'll feel better, too.

Dio's treatment went well, yesterday....I can breathe again. He's still hurting this morning, but he said that he feels better than the last time!

He has 2 different medical conditions and is seeing 2 different doctors, for 2 different types of torture treatments...usually they are scheduled for every other week.

The good news is that yesterday should have been the last of one of his treatments. He will have a follow-up appointment at the end of April, and we will know more then.

Now, he gets a break for 3 weeks, before his next torture treatment (from other doctor). That should also be his last treatment! We already know that he is doing much better with this condition.

Dio is almost over his cold, too! He has started to do a little bit of exercise, to gradually build his strength back!

Next, I need to get over my head cold/congestion! I'm making progress, feeling better every day...but I'm not ready to workout. Not yet, anyway!

My Saturday didn't start out very well. Right before leaving for the rink, my temporary bridge broke!

I spent the whole day, talking to customers, with a gaping hole in my mouth, surrounded with a bunch of sharp edges!

A temporary bridge is usually in for 2 to 2 1/2 weeks, before the permanent one is ready. Well, at the 2 week point, my Dentist was out of town at a convention....so I was scheduled for 3 weeks. That's when my Dentist got the flu and had to cancel. I was rescheduled for this coming up Tue, which will be 4 weeks.

For the most part, the sharp edges are not really a problem. But they do make eating a challenge. I can chew on the other side, but I have trouble biting my food. Everything has to be cut into little pcs.

The soonest that I can call the dental office is today. My appointment is for tomorrow morning, anyway...unless they cancel again!

Last night I went to bed with a dry cough. This morning, I woke up with a really bad sore throat, and no voice!!!

I HAVE to get my permanent bridge today, and get rid of the sharp edges in my mouth!

My mood was not helped this morning when, 1 minute after the alarm rang, the power went out!!! Fortunately, it is was only out for a few minutes.

It is probably a good thing that I lost my voice.....you may not want to hear my vocabulary right now!! 🤬

At least there is no fever. But it seams like I just can't get a break!

You've been through the wringer. Hopefully are paid full up for a while now.

Dental visit did not go as I had hoped it would. There was a problem with my new bridge!!!! My Dentist refused to give me a product of such poor quality. Since my temporary bridge broke, I had to start all over with the process.

I went in there, expecting a quick mounting of the new bridge, and to be on my way. Instead, I was there (being worked on) for almost 2 hours. My mouth is still numb, and I get to go back, again, for my permanent bridge, in two more weeks.

Honestly......ya' can't make this sh*t up!!!!!! 😠

I was going to post this update sooner, but when I got home, the Wi-Fi went out!!! So that just added to my day!

Seriously.....this whole year has been dysfunctional!!! I'm ready to trade it in for a different model!!

Ahh sorry to hear that. On the other hand, given the work on the new bridge was poor, at least you're not stuck with it in your mouth. Try to find pleasant things to do to distract your from the frustration and unpleasantness until you finally get the new one. I trust the dentist was able to convince you the new on would be up to snuff a spare from going through yet again. Here are a couple images to get you started.

Hang in there!

Trila - you have certainly been put through your share of problems. I too woke up yesterday morning with a sore throat, coughing was so sore, it felt like razor blades cutting. I remembered reading an article about Apple Cider Vinegar, so I warmed up the kettle and poured a tablespoon of ACV into a glass and added it to half a glass of warm water and gargled with it and swallowed, it won't hurt you.

I did a Covid test just to be sure and it came back negative. I went out for the rest of the day, and it is now 2.30 in the afternoon and my throat feels much better. I will do the same before I go to bed. I swear by it as it has healing properties. Hope you're feeling better soon.

You are so sweet.....thank you! 😘

Yes, razor blades! That is a perfect description!

I have a friend who swears by ACV. I tried it once, only to find out that my body doesn't tolerate much vinegar.

Maybe I used too much? I can use it when I cook, so I'm not sure what the problem is. Since I've relapsed, I sure could use some relief!

You got me thinking about trying it again......

I'm glad to hear that you are feeling better!! 💕

@oscash, you're sick too? Oh no,,, take good care please! 🌹

and alive!!! Well....sort of alive. This is the first morning, since my relaps, that I did not wake up feeling like I was swallowing razor blades!!!
emoticon
for me!!! I'm still sick, and still making "old people noises." But at least there is a little bit of improvement!

You never know, I may survive, yet!

Last night I was so tired and feeling soooo bad, when I went to bed! But
something changed during the night. This morning I woke up feeling better than I have felt for the last month or so!!!

Now...if only I can control myself and not over do anything today. (doubtful) Wish me luck, I think I'm finally starting to get rid of....whatever this is that has been getting me down.

Dio had another torture treatment today. We were hoping that it was his last one, but it's not. He will have to continue going back for more. (sigh)

Today, there was 'an unfortunate chain of events' at the doctors office. It started right after Dio was called in. After that, there was a long wait in between each stage of the procedure. From the time that he was called in, to the time he was finished, was over 2 1/2 hours!!! (Last time it was around 50 minutes)

We did pick up a pizza before heading home, so at least we didn't have to wait to eat. That's what we are doing now. After dinner, we are going to take showers and call it a day.
