30 Things Our Parents Did

Wait a minute. If you had parents in the "70's and 80's", what are you doin here?

My kids were born in '60 and '62. Seat belts saved all of our lives when I flipped our Renault into the Bronx river in "65 or so.

Now ask me about what I was allowed to do in the '30's!
Sucking on slivers of ice grabbed off of the floor of the Ice man's truck was a treat appreciated by all of us kids.
Standing behind the coal truck and dropping things on to the coal as it dumped down the chute to the basement was a frequent amusement.
How about sleigh riding down city streets while some kid watched for cross traffic and yelled "Car coming!
I remember one kid was actually killed. Brickelmier..Funny that I remember the name.
All of this while Mom watched us from the fourth floor apartment window, and believe it or not, Mom was a worrier!.....and yet, here I am!
