5 charged in Matthew Perry's death

U.S. Attorney Martin Estrada announced the charges Thursday, saying the doctors supplied Perry with a large amount of ketamine and even wondered in a text message how much the former Friends star would be willing to pay.

Wow, how brazen they were. I wonder how the assistant was involved.

That puts a different spin on his death for me. I thought he overdosed because he was an addict, not because his doctors were killing him.

Not surprised at all about the doctors... but the link doesn't say why the assistant was arrested, or who the other two people were. I'll pop back in here if I find out.

Okay, TMZ says a couple of drug dealers were arrested... because his prescribed ketamine would have been out of his system already. No word on the assistant yet... oh, if it was gotten from dealers, someone had to do the infusion... maybe that's it.
He was arrested for injecting MP on a regular basis without medical training..!!

No matter the result from arrests and whatever legal maneuvering going on a bright young person is dead. The flow of drugs in our society is costing all of us losses in lives and successes turned to something less.
..and the greed from those willing to supply it.. surpass all sense of danger or care for other people ... and I saw the statement from the arresting officers who said that these people are now facing life in prison... to me no amount of money is worth the loss of your freedom for the rest of your days..

Matthew Perry lived in a Beverly Hills hideaway with his Japanese assistant until just a couple of weeks before his untimely death, DailyMail.com can reveal.

And it is that 59-year-old man who, sources close to the star believe, may have been the person who discovered Perry's lifeless body in the hot tub at his newly refurbished house on October 28.

The actor had been renting the three-bed hillside home overlooking Beverly Hills and the ocean for $49,000 per month for more than a year while his $6million Pacific Palisades house was undergoing renovation.

He was living in the rental with Kenny Iwamasa, an executive assistant whose LinkedIn page says he has helped manage Perry's affairs for more than 25 years.

The house's landlord, John Malakzad, identified Iwamasa as 'an individual living with Perry and monitoring him'.

Iwamasa did not respond to DailyMail.com's request for comment.

Iwamasa had been pictured driving Perry, 54, around Los Angeles on errands and emerging from the Beverly Hills home in the morning, photographs exclusively obtained by DailyMail.com reveal.

The Friends actor had moved back in to enjoy his refurbished Pacific Palisades house less than a month before he was found dead, by a 'personal assistant'.

As his live-in PA, Iwamasa is believed to be the one to find his body.

Five people, including two doctors, a live in assistant and an alleged drug dealer known as the 'Ketamine Queen', have been arrested in connection with the overdose death of Matthew Perry.

The suspects were apprehended on Thursday over claims they are part of a 'broad underground criminal network' which supplied the Friends star the ketamine that killed him in October 2023.

Doctors Salvador Plascencia, 42, and Mark Chavez, 54, alleged drug dealer Jasveen Sangha, 41, otherwise known as the 'Ketamine Queen', Perry's live-in assistant Kenneth Iwamasa, 59, and drug dealer Eric Fleming, 54, have all been charged.

Prosecutors say the group preyed on the vulnerable star's addiction issues, with the doctors even referring to him as a 'moron' in cruel texts where they discussed how to further exploit him.

Jasveen Sangha, 41, is better known as the 'Ketamine Queen' of north Hollywood. Prosecutors say she is the lynch pin for a 'broad underground criminal network' which supplied the Friends star the ketamine that killed him in October 2023

The live-in assistant has since admitted being the one who administered the fatal doses to the actor, after being trained how to deliver them by Plascencia.

Court documents allege that Iwamasa injected Perry with 27 shots of ketamine in five days.

But prosecutors claim that Sangha's distribution of the substance on October 4, 2023 led to his death.

Sangha had thousands of pills and kilograms of powder in her 'drugs emporium' home, photos published by prosecutors reveal.

Federal law enforcement raided her home in March and recovered the incriminating evidence – along with text messages about selling 'double strength' ketamine.
During the search, law enforcement seized significant quantities of illegal drugs, including approximately 1,978 grams of orange pills that field tested positive for methamphetamine, 79 bottles containing a clear liquid that field tested positive for ketamine, and various other suspect narcotics,' Agent Abrego wrote in the criminal complaint.

A handgun can also be seen in a photo of the seized drugs included in Abrego's affidavit.

The complaint said Sangha was a 'large volume drug dealer' previously identified by the DEA, LAPD homicide detectives and the US Postal Inspection Service.

Agents seized her cell phone, which had 'conversations related to selling pressed methamphetamine pills and ketamine.'

In one March text conversation about selling ketamine, she asked for a payment of '958,51' to her PayPal, and said 'I think you'll like these but remember they're double strength'.

Doctor Salvador Plascencia, 42, has also been charged with conspiracy to distribute ketamine

Plasencia is charged with seven counts of distribution of ketamine and two counts of altering and falsifying documents or records related to the federal investigation.

The other three defendants were charged separately and two have pleaded guilty, with a third agreeing to plead guilty.

Fleming admitted to obtaining the ketamine from Sangha and distributing it to Iwamasa, who admitted then giving the drug to the star.

On one occasion, Iwamasa is said to have met with Plascencia in a public Long Beach parking lot where the doctor injected the star with ketamine inside a vehicle.

Two days later, he did the same thing with a large dose of ketamine at Perry's home that caused him to 'freeze up' and his blood pressure to significantly spike, the indictment says.

Plasencia told Iwamasa something to the effect of: 'Let's not do that again,' but he still left additional vials of ketamine with Iwamasa for injecting Perry with, court papers say.

Meanwhile in his plea agreement, San Diego doctor Chavez admitted to diverting supplies from his clinic, to Plascencia by filling out fake prescriptions.

'Drug dealers selling dangerous substances are gambling with other people's lives over greed. This case, along with our many other prosecutions of drug-dealers who cause death, send a clear message that we will hold drug-dealers accountable for the deaths they cause.'

He added that Sangha was aware of the dangers of ketamine after she allegedly sold it to another victim, Cody McLaury, hours before his overdose death in 2019.

After a family member of McLaury’s sent her a text message saying that her ketamine had killed McLaury, Sangha conducted a Google search for 'can ketamine be listed as a cause of death', prosecutors said.

If convicted of all charges, Sangha could face a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years in federal prison and a statutory maximum sentence of life imprisonment.

Plasencia could face up to 10 years in federal prison for each ketamine-related count and up to 20 years in federal prison for each records falsification count.

Iwamasa and Fleming will face up to 15 years and 25 years, respectively, when they are sentenced in their federal cases.

Chavez has been charged in an information pursuant to a plea agreement and will be arraigned on August 30. At sentencing, Chavez will face up to 10 years in federal prison.

'Matthew Perry's journey began with unscrupulous doctors who abused their position of trust because they saw him as a payday, to street dealers who gave him ketamine in unmarked vials.'

Beloved actor Perry had been receiving prescribed ketamine therapy to treat his anxiety and depression.

But he had not had one of those treatments for a week-and-a-half prior to his death.

That means the ketamine found in his system after he drowned had not been prescribed.

The amount in his blood was in the range used for general anesthesia during surgery.

It was listed as the primary cause of death, which was ruled an accident with no foul play suspected, the report said.

The actor had been open about his struggles with substance abuse.

In 2022, he said he estimated he had that spent $9 million battling his addictions across 15 rehab stays.

Yes a greedy and dangerous drug dealer and/or associates. Apparently they also found meth and when doing a search.

As noted without demand there would be no supply. Until the addict really wants to quit for themselves and not a court, friend or family they won't. My guess Perry did the rehab thing as much for PR as much as anything else. He didn't really want to quit at the time he died.

Yes a doctor giving scripted drugs for recreation is not good and should face some consequeces. But have to wonder how many other ODs and their suppliers were NOT pursued or investigated the way Perry's were.

Gee, I wonder if California has any laws against CONSPIRACY?

Why didn’t the CA DA get involved? I’m tellin’ ya people, if CA gets a large earthquake, the politicians there have earned that for the past 40 years.

Especially disturbing is that two doctors were involved, and one of them also worked at an Urgent Care in L.A.
Matthew Perry’s Assistant and Doctors Charged With Getting Him Ketamine

May they all be blessed with very long prison sentences - especially the Ket Queen. Life in prison is a great idea for her.

From the article above:
Court documents say that Mr. Perry’s personal assistant, Kenneth Iwamasa, injected him with at least 27 shots of ketamine in the five days leading up to his death, including at least three on the day he died. An indictment said that the defendants used coded language to discuss drug deals, referring to bottles of ketamine as “Dr Pepper,” “cans” and “bots.” And it said that when Dr. Plasencia texted with another doctor about how much to charge Mr. Perry for ketamine, he wrote, “I wonder how much this moron will pay” and “Lets find out.”
*********
The two doctors charged in Mr. Perry’s death have known each other for years, one of them said in a post on social media.

Dr. Chavez has built a brand for himself as what he calls “The Health MD,” describing himself online as a longevity coach, medical doctor, entrepreneur and fitness trailblazer. Having started his career as a medical chemist, Dr. Chavez recently listed himself as a medical director at a company specializing in regenerative medicine. His website offers a 12-week weight loss program for $1,500 involving the drug Ozempic.

Dr. Plasencia described Dr. Chavez on LinkedIn as a mentor of his for 15 years, writing that Dr. Chavez had been “extremely helpful to me as I navigated my own path as a medical entrepreneur.”

Did he really go to UCLA or work there? The evil spreads……like water seeping into cracks in a foundation.

STOP IT! STOP BLAMING THE ADDICTS FOR THE CONSPIRACIES FORMED AGAINST THEM. CAN YOU NOT SEE THAT THESE FIVE PEOPLE HAD IT OUT FOR PERRY?

A Grand Jury could SEE that, see those facts, yet you cannot? Then that is on you.

Seems like somebody has to pay when a beloved actor or celebrity dies.
That’s because of our media-fueled society.

No one cared when I had a very bad Kaiser doctor who might have killed me with her misdiagnosis. I couldn’t even sue her. And no one cared
when my brother died from a bad set of doctors.

Why? Because we were/are only a infinitesimal part of our media-fueled society.
WHY is Nike the #1 brand among young people now? Is it better than other brands? No. It’s because it has gotten more media coverage.

Once again, don’t blame the dead famous man for how f-ed up our brand-loving capitalist society is.

WHY do some people blame the dead instead of RAGING in anger at the politicians who have built and sustain this horrible system?
