I suppose look at Chernobyl...even with concrete overlay and a big exclusion zone the radiation traveled whole continents. Fukushima was worse possibly and Chernobyl is hard to top. They admitted several times they really can't contain it no matter what they've tried...after five years. Last thing I read they were theorizing that somehow putting the radioactive areas in a giant ice block of sorts. While it still continues to leak heaven knows how much?
I've read several books about this and it's nuts. I mean in a really cataclysmic, wreck the environment forever, kind of way. At one point they were short of clean up crews and they got volunteers among homeless people. So for a bottle of night train sake they have street vagrants go in and pretend to clean up radiation zones. What could possibly go worse...
