6 Things Seniors Should Stop Doing Now!

Which of these 6 things captures your attention? They all do for me but I've heard my children remind me not to be self-deprecating in particular. No matter how sincere they are, I tend to roll my eyes or disagree with their compliments. It does kind of ruin all the fun. So I plan to stop it...now. Not tomorrow.

It could make for a happier holiday season as the whole family will fly or drive from coast to coast, gathering in one house. I'm going to self-check as I try not to mention little age related annoyances.

I don't know about the rest of y'all, but it gets tiresome being told what clothes to get rid of, how to style my hair, how to decorate my home...all so that I won't look "old". Guess what? I am old! At 80, I'll wear what pleases me, style (or not) my hair any old way I like, and refuse to go along with whatever is trendy in home decor this season.

Thanks @Mike I edited the title. You're right, all 6 things do apply to men as well as women even though the video title mentions women...the 6 things are "living in the past, trying to please everyone, fearing change, self-deprecating, overthinking things, and letting our age define us".

Sandra, the sweet woman in the video, had a very rough life but is a survivor with tools she has learned to use. I might post her video where she talks about raising her children alone after her husband was murdered. Plus he had very serious mental illness issues while they were married and she was left penniless. She shares the tools she used to survive.

Yes, I have been following her channel for awhile now. She has good ideas and advice.

Thanks for that quick summary. If it’s more than 3 minutes on You-Tube, I don’t watch anything.

This video is not about the murder even though the word is in the title and it is something that happened in her past.
But it's about "When you think you can't...you can" and the tools she used to survive her most difficult situation. I know some of you have also experienced a difficult past and I thought these tools she shares might be helpful and comforting.

She remarried 40 years ago, is in her 80's now, and her husband is 95. She lives in Miami Beach now and is quite happy living there.
