7-year-old girl dies during tonsillectomy

Even more sad if the tonsillectomy was "routine" as opposed to necessary because her tonsils were causing problems.

Given that she died within a minute of the surgery, it seems likely that she had a horribly adverse reaction to the anesthetic. How very sad.
I know that many anesthetists like using Nitrous Oxide followed by Propofol on young patients. I have been told that usually they can tolerate it more than some of the heavier narcotics that are used to sedate patients.

Last time I had a procedure involving gas anesthetic the hospital asked me more questions about my health than I can remember I actually got pissed at them.

This is really terrible, especially for the little girl's parents. I don't even know these people and I feel terrible for them. The excruciating pain they must be going through makes me feel so sad about this when I think about it.
