76 and raising a 15 year female teenager

BUT you're not on the cell phone every minute from 7am to 10pm every day and don't get me started on these teen gals taken pictures of themselves with cell phones ,3 teen gals in the back seat of my car with flashes going off every 10 seconds and at night time with those flashes going off Im surprised I haven't been stopped by the cops yet..;)

That is sooo familiar, Davey!! We have a 15 yr old granddaughter, too, and I can't remember when I last saw her without her cell phone - I think it somehow grows on them - literally. :p

I just need to try to keep up-to-date with her and all her girlfriends.
Its not like yesteryear kids when a fad lasted a few years, todays kids you'll be lucky to see the same fad last 3 months.
"Papa,will you please keep up".

So true. It's bad enough seeing their homework - we don't even understand it, but so far, she's doing great. I'm wondering what they're learning about history - the Constitution, etc. Last time I asked they weren't even into that yet.

ETA: how about their fashions - found this online; for $20 - was $36. I have a similar pair in my closet for garden work...wish I could get money for those. :p
However, I can see why they call them 'destroyed' jeans. :D

Have a friend with a 17 year old daughter. They got their phone bill, and she had made over 3,000 texts in one month. We tried to figure out how she could do that. They realized she was texting during school. They went to the school and talked to them. The school told them there was nothing they could do about it, because the kids can text with the phone in their pocket. The kids also know how to make their phones ring at a tone that adults can't hear. Fortunately, they had a plan with unlimited texting.

My grandson has a prepay plan. I told him he would have to earn the money to pay for it. He got a job working weekends with some friends of mine who have a farm. It is hard dirty work at $7 an hour. The first day he worked 5 hours mopping floors, washing down walls in their deer processing rooms, and clearing brush outside. When I picked him up I thought he would complain about all that hard work he had done for just $35. However, he loved it. He was so proud of what he had done. He talked excitingly about how he had cleaned the walls so well that he could actually see his reflection. I was thinking is this the same kid that trying to get him to just clean his room was always a major undertaking. He is even asking my advice about money, and really listening when I tell him what I think.

My teenage g'daughter's phone may as well be glued to her hand the majority of time. Texting is her thing, but she knows the darned thing is to be left in the trunk when we're together! aarrrggghhh!!! And don't you know how urgently important those text messages are??!!! It's almost laughable, but for being so darned frustrating and RUDE!

Just gave the 15 year old a new rule "everytime your bed is not made before school,I keep your cell phone for 5 hours"
Im pretty sure 5 hours is a lifetime for these teens.

Have tried to put myself in a teenage place and wondered if I would have been a texting maniac had there been such devices when we were kids. Damned straight I would have been babbling about all kinds of inane crap that means nothing to us old folks. It's a little group that has always been and will always be. Now, extended adolescence is another problem altogether . . .

This AM before school, she's screaming in her bedroom and as usual I go in there and say the same thing "WHUT UP?".
Seems the second drawer of her bureau that was jammed packed came flying out after a big pull, clothes.bras, panties all over the floor, cats running for their lives.
This 5 drawer bureau is ALWAYS jammed-packed with clothes, hell I dont even know how she manages to even close those drawers.
"gotta rush Im late for school, will you put those clothes back in the drawer"?
"ya sure I will":playful:
Cats just found a new sleeping arrangement.
