I liked AMTRAK when my wife and I would ride it to NYC. I haven’t been on the train since 2019. NYC is no longer safe and even though I carry a weapon, I really don’t want to have to use it, but if a thug would jump me, it would be lights out for them. The best thing for me to do is to avoid the possibility.
Most states honor an active or retired police officer’s ability to carry a weapon with exceptions. The officer must carry a photo ID showing him/her as an active or retired police officer and the officer must qualify each year. Some states have additional prerequisites. New York is a bit different in that it depends on what part of the state the officer is in. Some parts of New York, the officer still needs a carry permit. Strange to say the least, unless the law has changed in the last 8 years, which is quite possible.
