What will you watch to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the 9/11/2001 attack?

There's
  • United 93
  • World Trade Center
  • Worth
All good movies.

There are some others that aren't so highly rated.

There's also a Frontline episode that looks interesting:
America After 9/11

What? Nobody's into movies based on the 9/11 attack?

I watched the Frontline episode this evening and it was a pretty good amalgamation of the highlights and lowlights resulting from our "war on terror" — kind of a cursory, high-level view, but that's to be expected from a two hour episode that covers 20 years. They traced the state of society in the U.S. from before 9/11 to where we are now, and how our country has deteriorated, and some of why it deteriorated. Not a pretty picture.

I've seen the 3 movies you listed. They are ok but nothing of very high quality.
Personally, I liked Netflix film "Zero Dark-Thirty" much better. The story of the 10 year hunt for Osama Bin Laden and the final assault by Seal team 6.

I watched "Turning Point: 9/11 and the War on Terror." 5 part Netflix series analyzing the event and its aftermath.
The first two episodes were good, but then it got into the corruption and incompetence and the politicization of the tragedy, which I don't need to re-live. Those people are really despicable. In this case 'there were very despicable people on both sides.'

We're going to watch 12 Strong (Netflix DVD) this evening, staring Chris Hemsworth, Michael Shannon, and Michael Peña.

From Netflix
This tense military drama follows the first American forces to land in Afghanistan after the 9/11 attacks: a small band of elite soldiers who travel on horseback through deadly territory to help coordinate the efforts of anti-Taliban forces.

From the trailer it looks like there are a lot of CGI explosions, which are always distracting and annoying. Why can't film makers blow stuff up for real any more? It just shows the disintegration of society and loss of freedoms when we can no longer blow stuff up.

I don't expect it to be a great movie, but hopefully, it will be interesting enough that I don't fall asleep. I'm feeling a bit tired right now, so that's probably what's going to happen.
