9 babies??? Really????

I just read about a new case of a woman being pregnant with 9 babies. While she still has some time to go before her due date (which its always doubtful she will make it even close to term), what are these doctors thinking? While I am grateful that this is not a US based case (they are in Mexico just over the Texas border apparently) it is still a shame that in a world where the kids we have already here on earth arent being taken care of because of famine, economy issues, etc, that someone thinks bringing 9 babies that will no doubtedly have a hefty medical bill for years to come is a good idea. While everyone has the right to have a child (personally I think you should have to show you can take care of the child first), 9 is just too much. How can you as a parent honestly say you are giving each individual child what they need to grow up to be a wonderful human being? Do people really need to have litters of babies? The doctor that implanted 12 embryos into octomom lost his license for a reason. This is just shameful.

This octomom gal has made a lot of publicity for herself in the news, and gained a lot of financial support via televised exposure, I think she's in California. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nadya_Suleman.

While I think that IVF is a good option for a couple who can't have children naturally, when it's abused, it's a sad thing. The doctor and the woman involved are both to blame.

I agree there is no way to possibly raise 9 healthy children at once! I raised 4 children with my husband, years apart, and our oldest was still a wild child. Not to mention the financial struggle. Parents should have the option to keep their children, but it is absurd to have that many children at once.

Three was enough for me to cope with being born fairly close together, but nine all of the same age would be a nightmare to me, she deserves a medal coping with that many all at once.

The person who wants, desires, and thinks they can handle that many kids should be locked up by DCSS for child endangerment. Each baby will be a premie, requiring tax payer money to cover the added expenses. Then the woman or family will be unable to provide for each child (car seats, food, clothes, extended passenger van, etc) requiring more assistance. It should be illegal to implant so many embryos, max should be two or three children at once, as is natural - rare, but natural.
