A confusing phone message from trash service

It was after 6 pm and the phone rang. it was my trash service. The recorded message said the because of the bad weather on Monday, trash was on a day delay. Then something about a holiday schedule, but to leave the bins out as usual. If they were not picked up today, leave them out and they will be picked up sometime later this week.

Nothing like clarity in a phone message!

I take it to mean, put em out, we'll get to them eventually :ROFLMAO: You must have a related service to mine

It's understandable that weather makes for delays and its good that they left a message. I live in a major city and there's an ordinance against putting trash out on any other day than collection day. So when delays happen you're left wondering what to do. No phone messages are delivered.

If left out like that, who gets to pick up the trash when an animal has invaded the can? I had a bear get into mine last fall, in the fenced in front garden area. Neighbors had the same problem. I don't put out the trash until the morning of pickup day.

I get those exact same messages. When there's bad weather, they do say to keep it out and they'll be picking it up. They always have, too. A few times it was like 11 p.m. but always picked up. People who don't listen and take it back in usually end up complaining that their trash wasn't picked up. SMH

Other than having to walk out to the curb to put additional trash in, seems pretty reasonable to me to advise customers that due to weather & holiday pickup will be delayed.

Also who cleans up after a snow plow doing the street, pushes the trash all thru the snow bank?
It's what would happen here.
People try to keep it someplace else, and not put it out during delays and confusing schedules and repeated snow storms.

I had to go out this morning and upright a bin that was laying in the street. I assume since there was snow overnight, a street plow could have hit hit. I don't like to see trash cans sitting by the roadside - it makes properties look unkempt. I get my bins back in the garage as soon as both bins are emptied. Not all of my neighbors put theirs inside, but at least they put them next to their houses so it doesn't look messy.

No reminders by phone or email but their website tells us to do the same thing. Put it out the evening before our regular pick up and they'll get it eventually. This week, because of high winds, I waited until morning and got it out just in time. Sheesh.

So here is the holiday schedule for our trash company(CR&R):

If the holiday falls during the work week, collection for the remainder of the week will be postponed by one day.

That would be fine, if they followed that policy consistently. Last week we didn't put out the trash on our regular pick up day, in conformance with the posted pick up schedule. However, mid morning the trash truck goes speeding by down the road like it was on a regular pick up schedule. This has happened before, I wonder how many customers get caught up in this type of Catch-22?

I agree with you, emptied bins make the road look really untidy, I hate to see them left out. Most people in my road bring theirs in within a few hours of it being emptied...
