A cost effective Broadband provider?

I'm in my late 80s and like many of my age grew up with BT before it was sold off by an ideologically doctrinaire vandal. However I continued to use it as a habit and because I was to idle to look elsewhere but looking at my telephone bill today I find I'm paying £74 a month and I wonder if there is a cost effective alternative.

BT.?..I presume you're in the UK...

WE used to have BT as well, but like you it became ridiculously expensive and was always going wrong.. so we changed to Sky.. and I have my landline, Mobile, and my TV package with it including Discovery channels and Netflix .. and it cost about £50 per month...

I am in the UK. South Oxfordshire. Many thanks for your advice.

Simply because most of its users continue to be just that by habit.

Welcome BML
Im with Virgin Media, When a new Housing Estate went up and they were offered BB for half what I was paying I phoned up and Complained , Id been with them for 7 years , I got a good deal out of it , it dropped from £40 a month to £26.. They said for my Loyalty .. and the new 2 year contract at that price runs out in September , they said to talk to them again for another New deal at low price ..
I only get BB for that price , my phone is a burner , which a £10 top up covers me for nigh on the whole year , still using my late Hubbies that got enough credit on for the year too .My phone is just for emergencies, and call to GP...
