A couple of big dragonflies

Two big hawker dragonflies on my local reserve last week. The hardest part is finding them!

1. Female Southern Hawker

This was a Dragonfly I snapped... almost perfect chameleon properties against the green foliage made it quite hard to spot. I wouldn't have if it hadn't landed right on the back of the chair in the pub garden where I was sitting..

Look at his beautiful delicate wings , almost as wide as his whole body is in length..

Last week when I was deep sea fishing, ~100 miles out in the Gulf of Mexico we had a number of dragon flies land on the boat. None left the boat and most ended up dead on the floor. I kept trying to shoo them off, but it did not work. No idea what they were doing so far from land... first time I've seen it.
