A couple of people getting long sentences

Would those two get the same sentence if it happened in Canada, UK, France, Germany or Australia ?
Not in Canada. Our criminals have revolving doors. They keep repeating criminal actions over and over. Legal system has fallen apart. Lawyers are the only people here laughing all the way to the banks (and often all the way to their fancy cottages at the lake).

Store owners don't know what to do anymore. People keep walking in, loading up on "goodies" and just walk out without paying.

That's because our judges are a bunch of panty waists!

This description could be used for Germany too.

The truck driver got 5 separate charges, though, so he got 5 sentences of 4.5 years. And I don't think he has to serve the customary 50%, but even if he does, he'll serve 11 years, max.
Parole is never guaranteed. In this case, this man was guilty of negligent homicide, which In Arizona, it’s a Class 4 felony. This person caused severe grief to 5 families, not to mention the amount of destruction he was responsible for.

If the families show up for his parole hearing and fight against his release, he could be denied parole by the Arizona Parole Board, if they feel the amount of death and destruction he caused is worthy of a longer sentence than the 50%. Of course, if he is anything but a model prisoner, that could also add time to his sentence.

Accidents happen everyday. Some cannot be avoided, but that’s not the case in this instance. Had he been driving an automobile, the death and destruction may have been much less. The judge in this case had the opportunity to send a message to all truck drivers to pay attention to your driving. The judge basically gave this person the minimum amount of time for each death.

I have investigated several accidents with autos and semis involved. In most cases, the automobile was the cause. Stats show that autos are at fault 85% of the time in these cases. I have great respect for truck drivers. The amount of time they are on the road and away from their families, along with the amount of responsibility they incur and the few accidents they cause is remarkable in my opinion. However, when they are the cause of an accident, it can be a humdinger for the loss of a better word.

Running is beneficial because it offers a comprehensive workout that improves cardiovascular health by strengthening the heart and increasing lung capacity, promotes mental well-being through the release of endorphins that reduce stress and anxiety, aids in weight management by burning calories and boosting metabolism, enhances muscular strength and endurance, particularly in the legs, core, and lower body, supports bone health by increasing bone density and reducing the risk of osteoporosis, improves sleep quality by regulating sleep patterns and promoting relaxation, fosters discipline and resilience by setting and achieving goals, provides a means of social connection through group runs or races, reduces the risk of chronic diseases like diabetes, high blood pressure, and heart disease by improving insulin sensitivity and lowering blood pressure, enhances cognitive function by increasing blood flow to the brain, which improves focus and memory, offers a sense of freedom and connection with nature when done outdoors, encourages a healthy lifestyle by promoting regular physical activity, and provides a convenient, low-cost form of exercise that can be done almost anywhere, making it accessible to people of all fitness levels and backgrounds, ultimately contributing to overall physical, mental, and emotional well-being.

I once had a semi deliberately push me into a ditch because I was going too slow, another one took out my back fender and light as I was inside my own lane, stopped at a red light. He was turning left and claimed it was my fault because my Neon was so small he couldn't see it.

Makes you wonder how many motorcycles he creamed.

The drunk driver who killed my sister got only 37 months, originally to be served under house arrest but then changed to prison. House arrest? That's essentially what most of us "served" during Covid!

As it was, she didn't even serve the full 37 months.

Now had she robbed a liquor store, she probably would have gotten five years, but then crimes against property is always considered more serious than crimes again a person, aren't they?
