Ashness Bridge - probably the most photographed features of the area. It's a traditional stone Packhorse bridge with views towards Derwent water and Skiddaw.

A very interesting tour inside the last working slate mine in England.. The roof of this cavern is formed from volcanic lava..

Outside the mine entrance, far above the Honister pass. It would take the miners hours to walk here, so they would work and sleep in the mine.

Is the lower photo looking down the western side of Honister Pass. From memory I think the eastern side is steeper?

A group of us parked here to get to the top of "Haystacks" to look over Buttermere & Crummock Water.

We camped overnight on the top of Haystacks. Then the following morning we walked down the other side and along Buttermere, to an area behind the Bridge Hotel, where we had other larger tents set up.
