A Helicopter Is Going To Mars

Does anyone remember the movie "Total Recall?" One of my favorites - I liked the idea of memory implants, but not sure Mars is on my list of must-go places. Still, it will be fun to take a virtual tour!

I wish we would put all the bizillions of dollars that we are putting into this kind of stuff into solving problems we are having right here on earth -- like the coronavirus vaccine or treatment or cancer research or helping homeless vets or solving food insecurity.

Is this being funded by the government or private individuals? If the government then, you're right, there are other human issues which should take priority. If billionaires, then they are free to spend their money as they wish. I am not of the opinion that the rich have an obligation to help the poor.

I was under the impression NASA has been using funds or some kind of co-exploration assistance from the private sector; Space X, Tesla and some other 1 percenters who don't wish to be known publicly at this time.

I'm not sure but some foreign money may also be involved.

Yes, earthly issues should be fixed first. Yet although cancer should have been, eradicated a long time ago imo, I don't believe it was space exploration that held the Cure back.
