A Jeep Owner Is Being Sued Over the Death of a Dealership Mechanic.

When you take your car in to a dealer for service, you don't generally expect to end up as the target of a lawsuit because it killed someone while you weren't even there. Unfortunately, that seems to be what happened to the owner of a Jeep in Michigan, according to a Fox 2 Detroit report on Wednesday.

that is a frivolous suit ........ hope the owner of Jeep gets compensated for all cost to defend himself
The laws in that state are crazy .. it should be entirely on the dealership for the conduct of their employee and safety violations
sounds like a crafty lawyer trying to circumvent the laws in Michigan

Same in Ohio. The exclusive remedy would be through the Workers Compensation system. The only exception here (I believe is still law), would be if it were an Intentional Tort.

Why are these laws still on the books? Yeah, some state politicians granted huge favors to their favorite patrons. But why shouldn't employers get sued for accidents in the workplace, if they were responsible for the accident. And same for car dealers?
I guess I live in a world without favoritism and privilege.

Hum, the children will receive social security. Much more depends on the state's public assistance program. Hopefully, the family will have affordable childcare and medical coverage. Food and housing assistance could be helpful.

I would think the young man who got in the car would need counseling. It would be very difficult to have that accident on one's mind.

I think the employer was careless and should be held accountable but million-dollar lawsuits are very excessive.

In Ohio, it is in our State Constitution from the 1800's. I could not find such in Michigan's though.
