A Lutheran pretending to be Catholic in the Holy Land

When we were in Jerusalem for a week, the Church of the Holy Sepulcher had no Lutheran Service, but there was a Catholic service in English. My wife is Catholic and went to service. Being at the very spot venerated by all Christians, I joined my wife and participated in the Catholic Holy Mass. Would the Pope condemn me for it?

Myself: as a Lutheran I wouldn't be concerned about the Pope's approval or disapproval. You likely understand the symbolism of the wine and bread, so that's all that's important.

I was invited by the priest at my in-laws' 50th Anniversary Mass to take communion. He knew I was not Catholic. I did not take it.

I don't know the Church's stance on Protestants taking Catholic communion. Maybe he was a very modern-leaning priest? He was young.
