A New El Nini Coming?

Predictions are for a potentially HUGE new EL NINO storm this winter. California certainly needs some good rain fall as well as snow in the Sierras, but not any thing as severe as the last El Nino.

Reminded of another forum wherein use was made referring to the "Best Coast", and the "Wrong Coast"! Strange, forum vagueness, but yes, El Nino may prove good. For us next door, the Santa Ana winds will be least welcome! imp

NOAA is predicting some severe flooding for much of the Western half of the US throughout this Winter, and into Spring....as a result of this El Nino. If heavy rains hit the areas of the West coast which have had forest fires, the danger of major mudslides will be substantial.

I hope we get some decent snow and rain, I'd hate to have to go back to drinking beer.....

I'm selfishly looking forward to this EL Nino. I'm in the Midwest and typically the winters are warmer and drier in EL Nino years.. Since this will be my last winter to commute to work.. I will be very pleased if there is no snow and ice.

Garfield Park El! How drafty, cold, slick when snowy and icy! Ground level, I watched in amazement as a kid when the "third rail" produced showers of sparks as ice had formed on it since the last train's passing.

Nothing can compare to a good, old, snowy Chicago winter! imp
