This afternoon, my friend Mary, 2 other residents in our apt building,Janice&Wilmet, and I went to see movie' The Holdovers'
The story is set in the 70's at a boys boarding school in Massachusetts . A curmedgeon teacher who teaches ancient history not well liked by the students& some faculty members, volunteers to stay on campus with couple of students who can't go home for Xmas holiday. He begins to bond with Angus, a bright but troubled student, Mary the school's head cook, who recently lost her son in Vietnam War
I really enjoyed the movie with a wonderful cast Paul Giammatti' Paul, Dominic Sessa'Angus"{debut film role} DaVine Joy Randolph as' Mary' There were some scenes where I laughed& cried. On a personal note I can relate to the movie since I went to 2 boarding schools in the 60's. The 1st was co-ed school in Deerfield, Mass,2nd all girls school in Toronto
I highly recommend the movie Sue

Thx Sue for highly recommending this movie. It looks good and I enjoy watching Paul Giamatti too. I will be sure to watch it. Rotten Tomatoes gave it a 96% which is great! Looks like it's on Netflix, Roku, Amazon Prime, and maybe Youtube. Not sure, Check it out.

Amazon Prime says it's currently unavailable in this area, Netflix acts like it's never heard of it, and YouTube only has trailers or reviews of it. (YouTube did have something that I thought was going to actually play the movie but when I tried that, it just bounced me back to the Amazon Prime home page. Oh well.)

I was curious to learn they shot some of the school scenes at 5 real boarding schools, one of them is Deerfield Academy in Deerfield,Mass. The co ed one I went to is down the street from that school
