A question for Vegans!

I don't expect many answers but didn't know where to fit in the question, so here goes.

Why don't Vegans drink cows' milk or eat eggs? None of those things are hurting animals!
Thank you!

Vegans don't eat animal products/byproducts of any kind... and milk/eggs are animal products. I don't understand the reasoning, but that's probably because this girl likes her bacon, chicken, beef, etc. šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø

My estranged husband is a horrendous picky eater Vegan .. and he as kate said wouldn't eat anything that had any kind of animal by product in it.. the very first thing he got rid of when he became vegan was dairy...

I don't understand the reasoning either, that why I asked ... without wanting to be confrontational with those who choose this lifestyle. But I always assumed that the idea was NOT to hurt animals, and to turn your back on milking a cow or taking away an egg just doesn't make any sense to me!

Not hurting (eating) animals I think of more with vegetarian... but vegan is stricter.

No animals..for a vegan..of any type, shape or description...My husband would not even eat something marked for vegetarians if in the tiny small print on the packet.. there was something that said it has a smidgen of B678.. or for example..( I just made that number up ).. because he would say..Oh no, can't touch that..that B number is a by-product of beef..or chicken.. or pork... or dairy... it would be minuscule but he wouldn't eat it.. he wouldn't eat cake or biscuits because they were made from dairy.. no chocolate , no sweets..(candy)..as well as no Chicken, beef, pork, fish.. milk butter, cheese, ..and loads more.. absolute nightmare... shame they didn't put animal by products in the alcohol he drank so freely..

But why are Vegans stricter? I wish we had one among us. I promise no strife or insults on my part! I truly would love to see the reason behind this egg and milk thing. Believe it or not, vegetarians I understand. They choose to eat veggies only and I respect that, even though I love my meat!

From Healthline:
A vegetarian does not eat any animal flesh such as meat, poultry, or fish. A vegan is a stricter vegetarian who also avoids consuming dairy, eggs, and any other ingredients derived from animals.

Sounds to me like another of those darn cults that are spring up like thistles on the farm. I'm thinking of that "Queen of Canada" gal out in Saskatchewan. It makes no sense to me. Take those young folks. They don't drink coffee because coffee has caffeine and they say that caffeine is bad for you. However, they drink Coke like there is no tomorrow. Coke has caffeine. They also drink energy drinks all day. Some of those energy drinks have the same caffeine amount like 5 cups of coffee. Yap, don't make any sense.

Furthermore, I bet those cattle ranchers out in Alberta would know what to do with a vegan if they were to catch one on their property.

because as my estranged husband tells me.. all dairy is coming from an animal..in fact he would have been more likely to retch at having a glass of milk or an egg on a plate in front of him, than anything else..

I wouldn't last a week on your exe's diet! That's insane! 😦

the worst of it was 2 fold.. when we went out to eat... there would be a long discussion about what he could or couldn't eat..and then he'd end up with a salad consisting of lettuce tomato and balsamic vinegar

..and secondly he wouldn't even come anywhere near the kitchen when I was cooking 'normal food'...

I could easily turn amateur psychiatrist/psychologist but I promised to be civil! 😦

So maybe I missed the answer to this but is the motivation for being a vegan about a healthier lifestyle or is it about protesting harm to animals and their biproducts being consumed by humans?

Some people go vegan or plant based for health. Those people, from what I have read, have a lower statistical rate of sticking with it. Those that go vegan or plant based for ethical reasons have a higher statistical rate of sticking with it.

I used to identify as vegan but changed to plant based. The 'vegan community' can be nasty to fat people. I haven't lost an ounce.

If you are interested, there is a lot of information out there on how eggs and dairy end up at the supermarket. Myself, I'm sticking with tofu and plant milks.

Yes I have meat eating cats. Come after me for them when everyone else stops eating meat. I won't live without cats. They are my life savers.
