A reasonable price for season lawn mowing?

I use a black & decker corded mower that I've had for several decades and can push it along with one hand but use both of them.
I'd be afraid I'd run over the cord. I have a hedge trimmer that almost every time I use it I manage to nick the cord. What was once a 90 ft extension cord is now about 50 ft.

I've contacted several local lawn mowing services and they:
1) want too much ($80 - $100) each time.
2) want to have a "seasonal" contract, where I want it on an "as needed" basis.
3) I have to supply the equipment (if I had a mower, I could do it myself, but as I get older I don't want the bother of maintenance or have to store it).
